Emmanuel Tardif

Emmanuel Tardif (also known as Emmanuel Gendron-Tardif) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter from Quebec. [1] He is most noted for his 2022 film In Broad Daylight (Au grand jour), which premiered in the Proxima competition for emerging filmmakers at the 56th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. [2]

An alumnus of Concordia University, [1] Tardif made the short films Desire (2015), Miami (2016) and Sunrise (2016) before releasing his full-length debut film Speak Love in 2019. [3] He followed up in 2021 with Heirdoms (Soumissions). [4]

With Léa Roy and Marie-Élaine Bédard, Tardif formed the production company Les Rapailleurs. [1]

On January 26, 2023, Tardif was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother, Lysane Gendron, [5] who was found dead in a Fullum Street apartment in Montreal on January 25. [6] His arrest scuppered the planned commercial release of In Broad Daylight. [7]

Fair Sex is a Canadian drama film, directed by Martin Laroche and released in 2012.

The Prix Iris for Best Live Action Short Film is an annual film award presented by Québec Cinéma as part of its Prix Iris program, to honour the year's best short film made within the cinema of Quebec. Starting at the 16th Jutra Awards, the award was presented to the directors and producers of the short films. Prior to that ceremony, only the directors received nominations.

Rafaël Ouellet is a Canadian screenwriter and film director from Dégelis, Quebec. He is most noted for his 2012 film Camion, for which he received Jutra Award nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing at the 15th Jutra Awards in 2013.

Heirdoms is a Canadian drama film, directed by Emmanuel Tardif and released in 2021. The film stars Martin Dubreuil as Joseph, a man whose wife Roxanne has left him, and who is keeping their son Mathieu sequestered at his home to prevent her from being in contact.

Laurentia is a Canadian drama film, directed by Mathieu Denis and Simon Lavoie and released in 2011. A meditation on Québécois identity which draws its title from the philosophical concept of Laurentie that was an early precursor to the contemporary Quebec sovereignty movement, the film stars Emmanuel Schwartz as Louis Desprès, an audiovisual technician in Montreal who sinks into a malaise of depression and identity crisis as he becomes increasingly distrustful and suspicious of his new anglophone immigrant neighbour Jay Kashyap.

Two Days Before Christmas is a Canadian romantic comedy film, directed by Miryam Bouchard and released in 2022. Inspired in part by the 2003 film Love Actually, the film stars an ensemble cast of Quebec actors in two separate stories about love and romance in the last two days before Christmas.
