Major General Emmett R. Titshaw, Jr. is a retired officer in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard of the United States. He was the acting director of the Air National Guard from 17 November 2008 to 2 February 2009. He later served the Adjutant General for the State of Florida until his retirement from military service in March 2015. [1] [2] [3]

During World War II, the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) established numerous airfields in Florida for antisubmarine defense in the western Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico and for training pilots and aircrews of USAAF fighters, attack planes, and light and medium bombers. After early 1944, heavy bomber crews also trained in the State. However two major operations in Florida were the School of Applied Tactics and the air Proving Grounds which tested and developed new capabilities.

The 176th Fighter Squadron is a unit of the Wisconsin Air National Guard 115th Fighter Wing located at Truax Field Air National Guard Base, Madison, Wisconsin. As of 2023, the 176th is currently converting to the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II, with its first jets having arrived on 25 April 2023. The squadron previously operated the General Dynamics F-16C/D Fighting Falcon between 1993 and 2022.

The 116th Operations Group is a Georgia Air National Guard unit assigned to the 116th Air Control Wing. The unit is stationed at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The 116th Group controls all operational Northrop Grumman E-8C Joint STARS aircraft of the 116th Air Control Wing. It was activated in 1992, when the Air Force implemented the Objective Wing organization, and was successively equipped with the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle and the Rockwell B-1 Lancer before converting to the E-8C in 2002.
