Emmie Charayron (born 17 January 1990 in Lyon), also known as Emma Charayron, is a French professional triathlete, European Champion of the year 2011, ten time French Champion in various age categories, and both European and World Junior Champion in 2009, and U23 World Championship bronze medalist in 2010.
Charayron is part of ECS Triathlon club and she ia also a member of the French Military Triathlon team (Equipe de France militaire de triathlon), which is part of the Ecoles militaires de Draguignan (EMD), and holds the grade soldat 1re classe.
Sports career
In 1997 Emmie Charayron, who is still trained by her father Philippe Charayron, took part in her first triathlon in Vaulx-en-Velin and since then she has won ten national championships in various age categories. Since 2006 she has regularly taken part in ITU competitions, since 2007 she has regularly won gold medals and in 2008, at the age of 18, she also started to compete in the Elite class most successfully. In 2009, she not only placed first in the Junior European and the Junior World Championships, but also won medals in Elite European Cups: silver in Quarteira and bronze in Athlone.
The French media often depict Charayron, the 2009 Junior World Champion, and Charlotte Morel, the 2009 and 2010 National U23 Champion, as the rising stars to count on in international competitions, not least the Olympics in London 2012. An example of this is the leading French magazine Triathlète dedicating its famous double page column called Confrontation to Morel and Charayron in November 2009.
At the first European Cup of the year 2010 in Quarteira, Charayron placed second whilst Morel, still hampered by an injury, finished 22nd. At the World Championship Series triathlon in Madrid, Charayron won the silver medal, whereas Morel did not take part [1] and at the U23 World Championship in Budapest Charayron won the bronze medal whereas Morel had to give up after a bike accident due to the torrential rain. At the French Championships in Charleville on 20 June 2010 Morel had won the U23 gold medal and Charayron had to settle for U23 silver.
At the French Championships in Villiers-sur-Loir on 24 September 2011, Morel again won the U23 title whereas Charayron placed second in the U23 ranking and third in the overall ranking.
French Club Championship Series
Thanks to Emmie Charayron, in 2009 her French triathlon club Brive Limousin placed eighth in the prestigious French Club Championship Series Lyonnaise des Eaux and achieved this top-ten placement without hiring foreign champions. The winning club, Beauvais, however, owed its success almost exclusively to the international stars Hollie Avil, Anja Dittmer, Andrea Hewitt and Vickie Holland. Emmie Charayron took part in four of the five Lyonnaise des Eaux competitions in 2009 and in three of them she won U23 medals: in Dunkirk she placed 1st (overall 6th), in Beauvais 2nd (overall 5th), in Paris Longchamp 4th (overall 7th) and in La Baule 3rd (overall: 13th).
Thus Charyaron managed to outdo Charlotte Morel, her greatest national rival running for Beauvais, at least in the three Lyonnaise triathlons where both were in the race: Dunkirk (U23 rankings: Charayron 1st, Morel 4th), Beauvais (Charyaron 2nd, Morel 3rd), and Paris Longchamp (Charayron 4th, Morel 5th).
From 2010 to 2013 Emmie Charayron represents Lagardère Paris Racing.[2] In 2010, however, due to her World Championship Series commitment, Charayron did not take part in the Lyonnaise competitions in France.
ITU Competitions
In the five years from 2006 to 2010 Emmie Charayron took part in 24 ITU competitions and achieved 16 top ten positions, among which 11 medals. In the ITU ranking of the year 2010 (Women's Standing) Charayron was number 22 among the best 63 female U23 triathletes of the world, although she took part in only one race.[3] The following list is based upon the official ITU rankings and the athlete's Profile Page.[4] Unless indicated otherwise, the following competitions are triathlons and belong to the Elite category.

Magali Di Marco Messmer, is one of the most seasoned professional elite triathletes and part of the Swiss National Team since 1995. She took part in two Olympic Games, placing 3rd in Sydney (2000) and 13th in Beijing (2008). She lives in Troistorrents in Valais.
Fred (Frédéric) Belaubre, is a French professional triathlete. He was the European Champion of the years 2005, 2006, and 2008, the French Champion of the years 2007 and 2010. Belaubre took part in two Olympic Games, placing 5th in Athens (2004) and 10th in Beijing (2008).
Andrea Hansen is a New Zealand triathlete who placed third at the 2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships and competed at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics.
Ricarda Lisk, is a German professional triathlete, National Elite Champion of the year 2010, and a permanent member of the German Kader, i.e. the National Team.
Vendula Frintová is a Czech professional triathlete, multiple Czech Champion in various categories such as National Champion of the years 2006 and 2007 and winner of the National Championship Series of the year 2009, Duathlon World Champion of the year 2009, and gold medalist of the World Cup in Mooloolaba 2010.
Charlotte Morel, is a French professional triathlete, twelve times National Champion in various duathlon and triathlon categories, e.g. National U23 Triathlon Champion of the years 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Since 2006, Morel is a permanent member of the French National Team. In the French Club Championship Series, Morel represented the club Beauvais, which e.g. in 2006, 2009 and in 2010 won both the French Club Championship Series Lyonnaise des Eaux and the National Club Championships in Gruissan. From 2013 to 2016, however, Morel will represent Issy les Moulineaux because of Beauvais' complete retreat from the elite sports.
Inna Tsyganok is a professional Ukrainian Russian triathlete, member of the Ukrainian National Team and National Champion of the year 2009. In 2011, Tsyganok took part in ITU competitions "representing ITU", i.e. without a citizenship, which seems to be a violation of the ITU regulations. Since August 2011 she is officially "representing Russia".

Fabienne Aline St Louis is a Mauritian professional triathlete, the African U23 Vice Champion, Elite Vice Champion (2010), and U23 African Champion (2011).
Alice Betto is an Italian professional triathlete, National 2010 Elite Champion and National 2009 U23 Champion.
The Grand Prix de Triathlon defines itself as the most outstanding triathlon event in France and attracts numerous international elite triathletes hired by French clubs. The Grand Prix should not be confused with the Coupe de France des Clubs, which is not a circuit but a one-day national championship and in which the clubs admitted to the Grand Prix are obliged to take part.
Dmitry Andreyevich Polyanski, is a Russian professional triathlete, 2009 U23 European Champion and permanent member of the National Elite Team. Polyanski is, together with Alexander Bryukhankov and Ivan Vasiliev, qualified for the London Olympics 2012.
Emma Jackson is an Australian professional triathlete, U23 World Champion of the year 2010, and 2009 Junior World Championships silver medalist.
Céline Schärer is a professional Swiss triathlete, National U23 Champion of the year 2010 and member of the National Team.
Katrien Verstuyft, is a Belgian professional triathlete, National Champion of the year 2009, and member of the National Team.
Jonathan Zipf is a German professional triathlete and silver medalist of the 2005 Junior World Championships. In 2010 he was number 31 in the ITU World Championship Series Ranking.
Andrey Alexandrovich Bryukhankov is a Russian professional triathlete, bronze medalist at the Russian Elite Aquathlon Championships and bronze medalist at the Russian U23 Triathlon Championships of the year 2011, and a member of the Russian National Team. Andrey's elder brother is the Russian Triathlon Champion of the year 2011 Alexander Bryukhankov.
David Hauss is a French professional triathlete and bronze medalist at the European Championships 2010. Thanks to his 7th position at the World Championship Series triathlon in London, together with Laurent Vidal, he qualified for the Olympic Games 2012, where he finished in 4th place, eighteen seconds behind bronze medalist Jonathan Brownlee.
Kerry Lang is a British professional triathlete, Scottish Duathlon Champion and British Triathlon Vice Champion of the year 2009, and Scottish Road Race (Bike) Champion of the years 2007 and 2008. She has represented Great Britain in the World Championship Series since 2009 and she represented Great Britain in the Series' precursor, the BG World Cup, in 2007 and 2008.
Alexandra Razarenova is a Russian professional triathlete, member of the Russian National Elite Team, Russian Elite Champion of the year 2011, and European U23 Champion of the year 2011. She competed in the women's event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics.
