David Walter Foster is a Canadian record producer, film composer, and music executive. He has won 16 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations. Foster's career began as a keyboardist for the pop group Skylark in the early 1970s before focusing largely on composing and production. Often in tandem with songwriter Diane Warren, Foster has contributed to material for prominent music industry artists in various genres since then, and is credited with production on over 40 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. As reflected in its title and cover art, the album was originally set to be Eminem's final studio album. It contains several lyrical themes, most notably Eminem's opposition to then-US president George W. Bush and parodies of Michael Jackson, and features more comedic themes and lyrics than his previous albums.

The song debuted on Eminem's official mixtape, Shade 45: Sirius Bizness, on October 20, 2004, which has Eminem standing in front of the White House holding an American flag on its cover. Days later, on October 26, one week before the 2004 presidential election, a promotional video created by Guerrilla News Network debuted on the company's website. The video aired on MTV the following day and immediately went to the top of the channel's "hot video" charts. The song, released to encourage voters to vote George W. Bush out of office, did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 or Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs because it was released only as a promotional video and album track.
