In British politics, an affiliated trade union is one that is linked to the Labour Party. The party was created by the trade unions and socialist societies in 1900 as the Labour Representation Committee and the unions have retained close institutional links with it.

The management structure of the QCU is made up of a committee of management and an executive of representatives comprised from affiliated unions.
The Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers' Union (CEPPWAWU) is a trade union in South Africa. It was formed through the merger of the Chemical Workers' Industrial Union (CWIU) and the Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers' Union (PPWAWU) in 1999. At the time of the merger, the union had 93,000 members which had fallen to 64,100 members by 2011.

RENGO, which stands for Japanese Trade Union Confederation, is the largest national trade union center in Japan, with over six million members as of 2011. It was founded in 1989 as a result of the merger of the Japan Confederation of Labor (Domei) and the Federation of Independent Labor Unions. In 1990, General Council of Trade Unions of Japan (Sohyo) also joined RENGO.
The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) is a national trade union centre in Ghana. The origins of the GFL can be traced to the departure of a group of workers from the TUC-affiliated Industrial and Commercial Workers' Union who then founded the Textile, Garment and Leather Employees Union (TGLEU) in 1993. The TGLEU subsequently attempted to affiliate to the TUC, but was refused. In 1996, changes in labour law in Ghana allowed trade union pluralism and in 1998 the GFL was founded.
The General Workers' Union (GWU) is a national trade union center in Malta. The GWU was founded in 1943 and has been politically identified with the Labour Party as the trade union is the major left-wing trade union in Malta. The two were statutorily fused from 1978 to 1992, and continue to share many common objectives.
