Enitan Adepitan [2] [3] (born 9 December 1994), [4] known professionally as Enny (stylized in all caps), is an English rapper, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her 2020 single "Peng Black Girls" which gained popularity following a remix version with Jorja Smith which was performed live on ColorsxStudios. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Early life

Coming from Nigerian heritage, Enny was born and raised in Thamesmead, South East London. [10] She lives with her parents and was one of six siblings. Enny’s interest in music started in early childhood. She experimented with music influenced by her family and learned to play instruments such as the keyboard from her father. [11] Enny also participated in a local street dance group in which they played and danced to American hip-hop. [10] An interest in jazz, gospel music and hip-hop inherited from her friends and family would later have a musical impact on her career. [11] After high school she attempted to enter the film industry for two years. However, finding herself unsuccessful and unsatisfied with her career path, she decided to focus on music and freestyling. [10]

Career

Enny began her music career by releasing freestyle videos on YouTube. These videos lead to her self-released debut single, "He's Not Into You", in April 2020, which features life lessons on dream relationships. [11] With this hit single, Enny was recognized and introduced to the studio program, Root 73, by her certain manager, Pascal. [12] She would later be scouted by English singer-songwriter Jorja Smith who signed her to her own label FAMM. She would later release "Peng Black Girls", which was produced in 2021, and a remixed version of the song featuring Smith. [11]

Joining Pressplay Media - a UK rap platform - in 2012, he later moved to Link Up TV, where he would stay before moving back to Pressplay Media following the beginning of his Plugged In freestyle series in 2020. Between his move to Link Up TV and his return to Pressplay, he would release two mixtapes, named The Mix-Tape and The Mix-Tape 2, with the latter being released in 2018.
