The Ephraim Union (EU) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Mizoram. EU belongs to the section in Mizoram that claims that the Mizos are descendants of the ten lost tribes of Israel, and advocates conversion to Judaism. EU struggles for making it easier for Mizos to convert to Judaism and migrate to Israel.
EU also claims that the leaders of Mizoram (the erstwhile Mizo Union) had signed a contract stating that Mizoram would be a part of India for only ten years, at the time of Independence in 1947. EU doesn't however, present any evidence proving this position.
In the state assembly elections in 2003 EU had put up three candidates (out of 40 in total in the state). Together they mustered 123 votes.
In the Lok Sabha elections in 1999 EU put up a candidate in the only constituency in Mizoram. [1] M The candidate got 1,578 votes (0,54% of votes in Mizoram). In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections the party fared better, and the party candidate Tlangdingliana got 6,512 votes (1,87% of votes in the state). [2] [3]
Mizo Union was the first political party in Mizoram, in Northeast India. It was founded on 6 April 1946 at Aizawl as the Mizo Common People's Union. At the time of independence of India from British rule in India in 1947, the party was the only political force in the Lushai Hills. It won the first Mizoram District Council general election under the new Indian Union in 1951, and consecutively in 1957, 1962 and 1966.
Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is a political party based primarily in the Indian state of Haryana. It was initially founded as the Haryana Lok Dal (Rashtriya) by Devi Lal in 1996, who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of India.
The Mizo National Front is a regional political party in Mizoram, India. MNF emerged from the Mizo National Famine Front, which was formed by Pu Laldenga to protest against the inaction of the Government of India towards the famine situation in the Mizo areas of the Assam state in 1959. It staged a major uprising in 1966, followed by years of underground activities. In 1986, it signed the Mizoram Accord with the Government of India, renouncing secession and violence. The MNF then began contesting elections and has formed state government in Mizoram three times. It is currently the state's opposition party, with its president, Zoramthanga, as the Former Chief Minister of Mizoram.
Mizoram Secular Alliance (MSA), formerly known as Mizoram Secular Force (MSF) is a political alliance in Mizoram. It was launched ahead of the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. MSA comprised Indian National Congress, Mizoram People's Conference and Zoram Nationalist Party.
Mizo Janata Dal, a political party in Mizoram, India. In spite of its name, MJD had no relation with the All India Janata Dal. MJD was led by Brig. T. Sailo. Colney Hrangthanga was the Vice President of MJD 1991–1992. MJD contested the 1993 state elections together with Indian National Congress. MJD won eight seats. With the support of the MJD legislators, INC was able to form a government in the state.
The Bnei Menashe is a community of Indian Jews from various Tibeto-Burmese ethnic groups from the border of India and Burma who claim descent from one of the Lost Tribes of Israel, allegedly based on the Hmar belief in an ancestor named Manmasi. Some of them have adopted Judaism. The community has around 10,000 members.
Vanlalzawma a politician from Mizoram who was a Member of the Mizoram in the 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha. Before he became a politician, he was the president of Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) in 1993 at the age of 37 and served two terms. During this period CYMA had wildlife conservation as its yearly goal and Vanlalzawma received an award for CYMA from the President of India, for successful wildlife conservation in Mizoram.
Mizoram is the only Lok Sabha constituency in the Northeast Indian state of Mizoram, and covers the entire area of the state. The seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Its first member of parliament (MP) was Sangliana of the Mizo Union who represented this constituency in the Fifth Lok Sabha when it became a union territory on 21 January 1972. On 20 February 1987, Mizoram was converted into a State of India. As of the 2024 elections, this constituency's MP is Richard Vanlalhmangaiha of the Zoram People's Movement.
Squadron Leader Rajeshwar Prasad Bidhuri, also known as Rajesh Pilot was an Indian politician, a minister in the Government of India and a former Indian Air Force officer. He belonged to the Indian National Congress party and represented the Dausa constituency in Lok Sabha. His original name was Rajesh Bidhuri. Rajesh Pilot died on 11 June 2000 in a car crash near Jaipur.
Lalchhanhima Sailo was the founder of Chhinlung Israel People Convention (CIPC) and a leader in the Bnei Menashe community in Mizoram, India. His widow, Lalthlamuani, contested in the Lok Sabha Election 2019 from the Mizoram as an Independent, but lost to C. Lalrosanga of the Mizo National Front.
Pon Radhakrishnan is an Indian politician representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Shipping between May 2014 and May 2019. Earlier, he served as the Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways in the NDA government. He has also served as the Minister of State for Youth affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation in Third Vajpayee Ministry. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu in 2014. He lost in the recent 2019 and 2021 (by-election) parliamentary elections.
Lalduhoma is an Indian politician who serves as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram since 8 December 2023. Formerly an Indian Police Service officer, he resigned from the security service to the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram and President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee in 1984. He however left the party from which he was elected two years later, for which he was disqualified from the Parliament. He became the first MP in India to be discharged based upon its anti-defection law.
Vanglaini is a daily newspaper in Mizoram, northeast India, published in the Mizo language. It is registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India. It is owned, edited, and published by K. Sapdanga. It remains the newspaper in Mizoram with the largest circulation.
C. L. Ruala is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Indian National Congress. He was a Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He was elected from the only one-seat Mizoram constituency. He won over Robert Romawia, IND candidate, and M. Lalmanzuala, Aam Aadmi Party candidate, by getting a total vote 210,485 (48.7%). He was also elected member in the previous term during 2009-2014.
Politics in Mizoram, a state in Northeast India had been dominated by the Mizo National Front and the Indian National Congress. As of 2024, the Zoram People's Movement is the ruling party in the states's legislative assembly.

United Democratic Front is a front of eight political parties in the Indian state of Mizoram. The front fielded Robert Romawia Royte for Mizoram's lone Lok Sabha constituency in the 2014 Indian general election. Founded in March 2014, it supports the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It was agreed that, if Royte wins the election, he would support the NDA in the Lok Sabha. Royte lost the election to Indian National Congress' C. L. Ruala by a margin of 11,361 votes.

C. Lalrosanga is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Mizo National Front. He was a Member of Parliament of the 17th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, elected from the only seat of the Mizoram constituency. He won over Lalnghinglova Hmar, an independent candidate, and other candidates Nirupam Chakma of the BJP, T. B.C. Lalvenchhunga of the PRISM, and independent candidates — Lal Hriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani by getting a total vote 223,509 (44.99%).
