Charles Finney Tambling was an American college football, college basketball, and college baseball coach. He served as the head football coach at Central Michigan Normal School—now known as Central Michigan University—from 1902 to 1905 and again in 1918. Tambling coached was the head basketball coach at Central Michigan from 1904 to 1910 and again from 1917 to 1919. He was the school's head baseball coach from 1901 to 1907. Tambling was also the head of the physiology and physical training department at Central Michigan. Tambling graduated from Oberlin College. He moved to Redlands, California in 1937. He resided there for ten years before moving to Cathedral City, California, where he died on May 6, 1958.
The Pepperdine Waves are the athletics teams of Pepperdine University, located outside the city of Malibu, California. They compete at the Division I level of the NCAA. The school is a member of the West Coast Conference for the majority of its programs. Pepperdine University was recently ranked by the Sears Cup as having the most successful athletic program for non-football Division I schools. Pepperdine University sponsors seventeen NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics teams. He played college basketball for Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was the starting point guard and played high school basketball at Oregon City High School in Oregon City, Oregon, where he was a top recruit. Tinsley currently plays for FC Porto in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol.

David Arthur "Finky" Strong was an American football player, coach of football and basketball, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (1941), Albright College (1946), Whitman College (1947–1948), and California State University, Sacramento (1954–1956). He was the head basketball coach at South Dakota Mines for one season in 1941–42. While at Whitman, he also served as the school's athletic director.
