Eric Chang is a Belizean politician.
Chang entered electoral politics in 2008,winning the United Democratic Party's nomination as a candidate for the Belize City Council in the following year's municipal elections. He was the first Belizean from Taiwan to win a nomination from a major party,receiving 2,970 votes,just nine fewer than incumbent Wayne Usher. [1] In the actual elections the following March,he received 9,428 votes,putting him at the top of the charts above fellow newcomer Roger Espejo,making him the first ethnic Chinese to be elected to public office. [2] [3] He also serves on occasion as a court interpreter for Chinese-speaking witnesses and suspects. [4]
Chang,who is of Chinese descent,was born in Taiwan and came to Belize in 1993 at age 14. [1] In April 2011,the Belize City Customs Department seized his Isuzu D-Max,alleging that customs duties had not been paid on it. [5] His house was also raided. [6] Chang described the incident as a misunderstanding,stating that he had purchased the vehicle used in Belize with all proper paperwork attached,and suggested that the police might have received incorrect information. [7] The Belize Times speculated there was a conspiracy behind the incident,and suggested that it could be intra-UDP fighting between Chang and Lee Mark Chang or even PM Dean Barrow. [8]
Belize is a Caribbean country located on the northeastern coast of Central America. Belize borders Mexico to the north,Caribbean Sea to the east and Guatemala to the south. Annette Lu Hsiu-lien is a Taiwanese politician. A feminist active in the tangwai movement,she joined the Democratic Progressive Party in 1990,and was elected to the Legislative Yuan in 1992. Subsequently,she served as Taoyuan County Magistrate between 1997 and 2000,and was the Vice President of the Republic of China from 2000 to 2008,under President Chen Shui-bian. Lu announced her intentions to run for the presidency on 6 March 2007,but withdrew to support eventual DPP nominee Frank Hsieh. Lu ran again in 2012,but withdrew for a second time,ceding the nomination to DPP chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen. She lost the party's Taipei mayoral nomination to Pasuya Yao in 2018,and stated that she would leave the party. However,by the time Lu announced in September 2019 that she would contest the 2020 presidential election on behalf of the Formosa Alliance,she was still a member of the Democratic Progressive Party.
Su Tseng-chang is a Taiwanese politician serving as premier of the Republic of China (Taiwan) since 2019,and previously from 2006 to 2007. He was the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party in 2005 and from 2012 to 2014. Su served as Chief of Staff to President Chen Shui-bian in 2004. He leads the second-largest faction in the DPP,after New Tide faction.
You Si-kun,also romanized Yu Shyi-kun,is a Taiwanese politician serving as a member and the president of the Legislative Yuan. He was one of the founding members of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP),and is known to be a strong advocate of Taiwan independence. He led the DPP as chairman from 2006 to 2007 and served as Premier from 2002 to 2005.
Sir Colville Norbert Young is a Belizean politician who served as the 2nd Governor-General of Belize. He is also a patron of the Scout Association of Belize. He was appointed as the Governor-General in 1993,taking office on 17 November of that year,and was knighted in 1994.
John Antonio "Johnny" Briceño is a Belizean politician who is the 5th and current Prime Minister of Belize since 12 November 2020,and the leader of the People's United Party (PUP) since 2016. He was Leader of the Opposition from 2008 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2020. From 1998 to 2007,he served as Deputy Prime Minister under Prime Minister Said Musa.
Belize municipal elections,2006 were a series of local elections held on March 1,2006,to fill vacancies for town councils in Corozal,Orange Walk,San Pedro,San Ignacio,Benque Viejo,Dangriga,Punta Gorda,Belize City and Belmopan. All the councils except Belize City elected one mayor and six councillors;Belize City elected one mayor and ten councillors.
General elections were held in Belize on 7 February 2008. Beginning with this election,Belizeans elected 31 members to the House of Representatives of Belize instead of 29. In what was considered an upset,the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) won the election with 25 out of 31 seats;the ruling People's United Party won six.

Schakron was briefly the PUP standard bearer for the Lake Independence House constituency in 2012,but her candidacy was disallowed due to her dual citizenship at the time in Belize and the United States,after which she renounced U.S. citizenship. Schakron was the unsuccessful PUP nominee for Mayor of Belize City in 2015.
William Quinto MBE is a Belizean diplomat. From 1990 to 2008 he served as Belize's ambassador to the Republic of China,resident in Taipei,Taiwan;he uses the Chinese name Wu Yong-chuan.
Lee Mark Chang is a Belizean politician and restaurateur. A member of the United Democratic Party,he was the first ethnic Chinese person to hold the post of President of the Senate of Belize.

Michel Hannah Chebat,Jr. is a Belizean lawyer. He has previously served as Chairman of Belize's Social Security Board as well as President of the Bar Association of Belize. He is a partner in the law firm of Shoman and Chebat together with Lisa Shoman.
Hung Hsiu-chu is a Taiwanese politician. As a member of the Kuomintang (KMT),she has served the party as a Deputy Chairperson and Deputy Secretary-General. Hung was first elected to the legislature in 1990,and was the Vice President of the Legislative Yuan from 2012 to 2016,her eighth term. She became the first female deputy speaker of the Legislative Yuan. She became the Kuomintang's first elected chairwoman later that year.
