The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the NAIA. Member institutions are located in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The MSFA was organized in 1993, and on-field competition began in 1994. The MSFA is divided into two leagues, the Mideast and the Midwest.
Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) is a private Nazarene university in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Named for its founding location, Olivet, Illinois, ONU was originally established as a grammar school in east-central Illinois in 1907. In the late 1930s, it moved to the campus in Bourbonnais. The university is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene and is the annual site of the church's Regional Celebrate Life youth gathering for the Central USA Region.
Michael Norman Gardner is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas, a position he held from 2004 to 2005 and resumed in 2010. Gardner served as the head football coach at Malone University in Canton, Ohio from 2006 to 2009. He was chosen to replace Mike Gottsch after Tabor's winless 2009 season. Gardner's teams achieved postseason play in each of his first five years as a head coach at the college level—the first two years qualifying for the NAIA Football National Championship playoffs and the next three years appearing in the Victory Bowl.
Steven Russell Saulnier is an American football coach and former player. He currently serves as the assistant head coach and offensive line coach at the University of West Florida located in Pensacola, Florida. Saulnier has previously served as assistant head coach and offensive line coach at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 2006 to 2014 as well as head football coach at Malone College—now known as Malone University—in Canton Ohio from 1999 to 2001.
The Malone Pioneers are athletic teams of Malone University in Canton, Ohio, United States. The Pioneers compete in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Malone joined the G-MAC after four seasons in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) from 2012–13 to 2015–16. Malone joined the GLIAC and Division II in the 2011–12 season and completed the NCAA Division II membership process in July 2013 after having previously competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA); mostly known for its tenure with the now-defunct American Mideast Conference from 1965–66 to 1988–89, and from 1993–94 to 2010–11. In 2016, the Pioneers began play in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, also known as the G-MAC.
Edward F. Sweeney was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Dickinson College from 1985 to 1992, Colgate University from 1993 to 1995, Frostburg State University from 1996 to 1999, and Mount Ida College from 2000 to 2007, compiling a career college football coaching record of 114–110–4.
Victor Dalmuth Shealy is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach at Houston Christian University. He was previously the defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach at the University of Kansas. From 1995 to 1998, Shealy served as the head football coach at Azusa Pacific University, compiling a record of 27–14–1. In 1998, he coached the team to the NAIA Football National Championship. For his efforts that season, Shealy was named the NAIA Coach of the Year and the American Football Quarterly Schutt National Coach of the Year.
The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm are the athletic teams that represent Southern Nazarene University, located in Bethany, Oklahoma, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division II ranks, primarily competing in the Great American Conference (GAC) since the 2012–13 academic year. The Crimson Storm previously competed in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 1978–79 to 2011–12; and in the Texoma Athletic Conference from 1972–73 to 1977–78.
Don A. Lee is an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Belhaven College from 2006 to 2008, Olivet Nazarene University from 2009 to 2010, Concordia College Alabama from 2012 to 2013, and Virginia University of Lynchburg from 2014 to 2016. Lee was the second African American head coach in history of the NAIA's Mid-South Conference and is a recipient of a National Football League minority coach fellowship.
Dennis F. Roland was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Olivet Nazarene University (1986–1990), Southwest Baptist University (1998–2000), Belhaven University (2001–2002), and Southeastern Louisiana University (2005–2006), compiling a career college football record of 47–80. Roland died on January 1, 2008, from non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Mike Gravier is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Hug High School in Reno, Nevada, a position he had held since 2019. Gravier served as the head football coach at Malone College—now known as Malone University—in Canton, Ohio, from 1995 to 1998 and at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia, in 2012. He was also the interim head football coach at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, for the final game of the 2013 season.
The 2008 Malone Pioneers football team represented Malone University in the season of 2008 NAIA football season. The Pioneers played their home games in Fawcett Stadium.
The Mount Union Purple Raiders football program represents the University of Mount Union in college football at the NCAA Division III level as members of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Mount Union have played their home games at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance, Ohio since 1913, which makes it the oldest college football stadium in Ohio. The Purple Raiders have claimed 13 NCAA Division III Football Championship and 34 OAC titles and have 12 undefeated seasons.
The 2010 Malone Pioneers football team represented Malone University in the 2010 NAIA football season. The Pioneers played their home games at Fawcett Stadium.
Michael C. Conway is an American football coach. He was the head football coach for Olivet Nazarene University from 1996 to 1999 and in 2023, and North Park University in Chicago, Illinois from 2013 to 2018. In the fourth game his first season at North Park, in 2013, he led his team to victory in a game against Carthage. This win ended a 13-year, 89-game losing streak in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play. In 2002, Conway was announced as the head coach of the Southwestern Moundbuilders in Winfield, Kansas to replace head coach Monty Lewis. However, he never coached a game for the school.
Fred Thomas is an American football coach and former player. He was the seventh and final head coach for the Malone Pioneers in Canton, Ohio from 2015 to 2018. After the announcement of the conclusion of the football program at Malone, Thomas became an assistant football coach for the Mount Union Purple Raiders in Alliance, Ohio beginning in the 2019 season. He had previously served as an assistant coach at Malone for the 2015 season.
The 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association season was the season of college football played by the seven member schools of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) as part of the 2022 NCAA Division III football season.
The 2023 NAIA football season was the component of the 2023 college football season organized by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in the United States.
