Erik Bonino (born July 1963) [1] is a British business man, formerly Chairman of Shell UK. [2]
At the 2024 United Kingdom general election he was an independent candidate in the North West Essex constituency. [3] [4]
Bonino has worked in management consultancy, engineering, major projects, and technology since 1984. In 2002, he joined Shell, [5] headquartered at the Shell Centre. He was Chairman of Shell UK from 2014 to 2017 and is a trustee of EngineeringUK.
In May 2024, Bonini declared himself as an independent candidate for MP of the North West Essex constituency in the July 2024 UK General Election.

Ian Cameron Swales is a British Liberal Democrat politician. He was the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Redcar in England. He is the only person ever to gain a North East Region Commons seat for the Liberal Democrats. Swales took Redcar from Labour incumbent Vera Baird for the Liberal Democrats at the 2010 general election, with a 21.8% swing. Swales added over 10,000 votes to his 2005 general election total. This was the biggest swing against any Labour candidate in the election and was also biggest majority overcome by any Liberal Democrat, until the 2022 Tiverton and Honiton by-election. He stood down at the 2015 general election.
Melvyn John Stride is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Devon since 2010. He has served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions since July 2024. He previously served in the May Government as Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster General from 2017 to 2019 and as Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council from May to July 2019. From 2019 to 2022 he sat as a backbencher, serving as Chair of the Treasury Select Committee. From October 2022 to July 2024, during the government of Rishi Sunak, Stride served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. After the Conservative Party's loss in the 2024 General Election, Stride became the Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in Sunak's shadow cabinet. He later launched his bid to become Leader of the Conservative Party but was eliminated on the second MP's ballot.

The 2024 general election was held on Thursday, 4 July 2024. Thirty-two seats were up for election in Wales as the general election occurred after the recently completed boundary review took effect. The Labour Party remained the largest party in Wales, gaining six seats for a total of 27. Both Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats made gains, taking them to four seats and one seat respectively. The Conservatives lost all thirteen seats they had held previously, leaving the party without Westminster representation from Wales for the first time since 2005.
