Erika Layne Stewart (born August 2, 1990) is an American swimmer of Colombian origin, who specialized in the individual medley events. [2] Born and raised in the United States, she acquired a dual citizenship to compete internationally and represent her father's homeland Colombia in swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics. [3] [4] While serving as a member of Marlins of Raleigh club in her home state North Carolina, Stewart also trained under head coach Mark Bernardino for the University of Virginia's Cavaliers swimming team. Stewart competed for Colombia in the women's 200 m individual medley at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. [4] Although she finished outside the top eight final at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, she scored a lifetime best of 2:19.75 to slide under the FINA B-cut (2:20.00) by exactly a quarter of a second (0.25) and assure her exceptional selection to the Colombian team. [3] [5] Coming from third at the halfway mark in heat one, Stewart stormed home on the rear of the dominant breaststroke leg to crush a new Colombian record for the runner-up spot in 2:18.54, just 0.29 seconds behind the leader Hanna Dzerkal of Ukraine. Stewart's remarkable Olympic feat in the pool would not be enough for her to celebrate, as she just finished only in thirty-second overall and did not advance to the semifinals. [3] [6]

Katharina Schiller is a German swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. Schiller won a bronze medal, as a member of the German swimming team, at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand with a final time of 3:42.68. Schiller is a member of the swimming team for VfV Hildesheim, and is coached and trained by Jacqueline Zenner. She is also a graduate of mathematics and sports science at the University of Hildesheim.

Lew Yih Wey is a Malaysian swimmer, who specialised in long-distance freestyle, backstroke, and individual medley events. She represented her nation Malaysia at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a career total of four medals in a major international competition, spanning the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lin Man-hsu is a Taiwanese swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and individual medley events. She represented the Chinese Taipei national team in two editions of the Olympic Games.

Julie Hjorth-Hansen is a Danish former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. She placed among the top 10 swimmers in the 200 m individual medley at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a bronze medal at the 2004 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Vienna, Austria in 2:13.03.

Louise Mai Jansen is a Danish former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. She is an eighteen-time national champion and a Nordic record holder in the freestyle and medley. She is also an eighth-place finalist in the 200 m individual medley at the 2010 European Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary with a time of 2:17.37, just eight seconds off the record set by Julie Hjorth-Hansen in 2009. Danil Bugakov is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke, freestyle and individual medley events. He won two medals for the 50 m backstroke at the Asian Swimming Championships. He is also the brother of freestyle swimmer and three-time Olympian Mariya Bugakova.

Fibriani Ratna Marita is an Indonesian swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. She represented her nation Indonesia at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the inaugural 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, and has also set two Indonesian records in both 200 and 400 m individual medley at the 2009 Southeast Asian Games.

Iurii Zakharov is a Kyrgyz former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and individual medley events. He represented his Kyrgyzstan in two editions of the Olympic Games.

Elina Partõka is an Estonian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She is a three-time Olympian, and a daughter of Valentin Partõka, who competed in both 200 and 400 m individual medley at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, representing the Soviet Union.

Nam Yoo-sun is a South Korean swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. She is a three-time Olympian, a fourth-place finalist at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, and a two-time medalist in the individual medley at the 2005 East Asian Games in Macau, China. Nam became the first South Korean swimmer in history to reach an Olympic final, until Park Tae-Hwan won the nation's first ever swimming medal at the succeeding Olympics in 2008.
