Erin Murray Quinlan is an American writer and composer for theatre, most notably God Save Queen Pam which debuted [1] Off-Broadway at the Players Theatre in 2018 and was published by Roger Bean and Steele Spring Stage Rights in 2019. [2] [3]

Education

Quinlan graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009. [4] [5] She also studied composition at Philip Lasser's EAMA Nadia Boulanger Institute with Michel Merlet. [6] She is an alumna of the BMI Lehmen Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. [7] [8]

Career

Quinlan's musical about Ernest Hemingway and his four marriages, Hemingway's Wife, was produced at the Players Ring in 2015. It received mixed reviews. [9] [10] That year, Quinlan also wrote music and lyrics and co-wrote the script (with Larry Tish and Lee Goodwin) to Jews on First, [11] a trunk show about Jewish baseball players commissioned by Larry Ruttman, using stories from his book, American Jews and America's Game. Its NYC premiere was at the American Jewish Historical Society in 2016. She also co-wrote lyrics and wrote the music to "How Can I Tell You" on Rory Sherman's album MS. A Song Cycle, [12] which benefitted the MS Society UK and included compositions from Bree Lowdermilk, George Macguire, Robert J. Sherman, George Stiles, and Sarah Travis. It was sung by West End star Julie Atherton. [13]

In 2018, God Save Queen Pam had its Off-Broadway debut [14] [15] [16] at the Players Theatre, to which Quinlan wrote the music, lyrics, and book. It opened to generally positive reviews, holding a 75 rating on Show-Score. [17] It was published [2] [3] by Roger Bean and Steele Spring Stage Rights in 2019.

In 2020, Quinlan wrote the score to the film Bad Cupid starring John Rhys Davis. [18]

Quinlan’s musical Brain Hemingway, a comedy based on her experiences writing about American author Ernest Hemingway and starring her husband Evan Quinlan as Hemingway, opened at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the summer of 2022, and returned in 2023 to rave reviews [19] . From there, it transferred to London’s Etcetera Theatre [20] , with a repeat London run in 2024 at the Canal Cafe Theatre [21] .

Lynn Ahrens is an American songwriter, and librettist for the musical theatre, television and film. She has collaborated with Stephen Flaherty for many years. She won the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for the Broadway musical Ragtime. Together with Flaherty, she has written many musicals, including Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Ragtime, Seussical, A Man of No Importance, Dessa Rose, The Glorious Ones, Rocky, Little Dancer and, recently on Broadway, Anastasia and Once on This Island.

Edward "Ed" Kleban was an American musical theatre composer and lyricist. Kleban was born in the Bronx, New York City, in 1939 and graduated from New York's High School of Music & Art and Columbia University, where he attended with future playwright Terrence McNally.

John Dempsey is an American theatrical lyricist and playwright who has worked in Britain and the United States. His work has been produced in Japan, Brazil and other countries. With Rowe, he wrote the book and lyrics for Zombie Prom (1995), The Fix, and the stage adaptation of John Updike's The Witches of Eastwick (2000). Rowe and Dempsey were nominated for the Olivier Award for The Fix and The Witches of Eastwick, both of which were produced in London by Cameron Mackintosh. <i>A Class Act</i> Musical

A Class Act is a quasi-autobiographical musical loosely based on the life of composer-lyricist Edward Kleban, who died at the age of 48 in 1987. Featuring a book by Linda Kline and Lonny Price along with music and lyrics by Kleban himself, the musical uses flashbacks and the device of time running backwards to retrace the high and low points of the composer's personal and professional life.

Jill Santoriello is an American musician, composer, lyricist, and author. She is a self-taught musician whose award-winning first musical A Tale of Two Cities was an Outer Critics Circle Award nominee for Outstanding New Musical in 2009. Her newest musical "It Happened In Key West", co-written with Jason Huza and Jeremiah James, released its Live London Cast Recording on June 17, 2022 following its world premiere at London's Charing Cross Theatre starring Wade McCollum beginning July 4, 2018. The recording is available on all digital platforms including Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify. Santoriello wrote the book, music and lyrics for "Key West" with Jason Huza co-writing the book and contributing additional lyrics, and Jeremiah James conceiving and co-writing the book. Also in 2022, nine songs from "It Happened in Key West" were featured at Broadway on the Bowery at Duane Park on March 7, 2022. Previously several songs were premiered at the Good To Go Festival and at Broadway Au Carre in Paris.

The Last Smoker in America is a four-character, one-act musical comedy featuring book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Peter Melnick. The Last Smoker in America opened Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in 2012, after developmental readings in 2005 at the Rubicon Theatre Company, a workshop production at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2009, and having its world premiere at Contemporary American Theatre Company (CATCO), Columbus, Ohio in 2010.

Pam MacKinnon is an American theatre director. She has directed for the stage Off-Broadway, on Broadway and in regional theatre. She won the Obie Award for Directing and received a Tony Award nomination, Best Director, for her work on Clybourne Park. In 2013 she received the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for a revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She was named artistic director of American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, California on January 23, 2018.
