Ernesto Lacayo (born May 5, 1989) is an American football placekicker for the Duke City Gladiators of the Indoor Football League (IFL).

Early life

He played high school football at Tennyson High School in Hayward, California, where he holds numerous kicking records. He played college football at Hastings College (NAIA), where he holds all kicking records in Hastings College history.

Professional career

Ernesto went undrafted in the 2011 NFL draft and signed with the Nebraska Danger (IFL) after the draft. After one year with the Danger, Ernesto then signed with the Louisiana Swashbucklers (PIFL) 2013. After the Swashbucklers folded in 2013, Lacayo then signed with the Wichita Wild (CPIFL) in 2014. Lacayo set an All-Arena/Indoor record of 30 field goals made in a season, and kicked a CPIFL record 55-yard field goal against the Salina Bombers. [1] Lacayo also kicked a 51-yard game-winning field goal against the Dodge City Law to put the Wild in the CPIFL Championship.

In 2014, Ernesto then signed with the Wichita Force (CIF) for the 2015 season, [2] where he played only 10 games before being called up to play for the Las Vegas Outlaws (arena football) (AFL) in 2015. In 11 games with the Outlaws, Lacayo led the league point after touchdown (PAT) percentage connecting on 54-of-59 (91.5%). In 2016, Lacayo signed with the Portland Steel (AFL).

Lacayo signed with the Seattle Dragons of the XFL in February 2020. He had his contract terminated when the league suspended operations on April 10, 2020. [3]

In spring 2021, Lacayo signed with the Arizona Rattlers for their 2021 season. [4] Lacayo was named to the 2021 All-IFL Second Team after he finished the regular season completing 85 of 93 PAT attempts and 6 of 10 field goals for the Rattlers. [5]

On December 3, 2022, Lacayo signed with the Duke City Gladiators of the Indoor Football League (IFL). [6]

The Bloomington Edge was a professional indoor football team based in Bloomington, Illinois. While it was in operation, the team hosted home games at Grossinger Motors Arena. Originally named the Bloomington Extreme, the team was a member of United Indoor Football (UIF), and joined the Indoor Football League (IFL) in 2009 during the UIF and Intense Football League merger. They left the IFL for the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) in 2013, and in 2015 the CPIFL merged with the Lone Star Football League (LSFL) to create Champions Indoor Football (CIF), where Bloomington did not follow and joined X-League Indoor Football (X-League). Following the 2015 season the Edge joined the CIF. The Edge then announced it had rejoined the IFL for the 2018 season, but a court ruling prevented the team from joining the league until 2019, however, they were not included in that season's schedule.

Kevin Guy is an arena football coach and former wide receiver and defensive back who is the head coach for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL). Thomas Frevert is a former American football placekicker. He played college football at Northwest Missouri State. He has been a member of the Kansas City Renegades, Oklahoma Defenders, Salina Bombers and Philadelphia Soul.

The 2018 Champions Indoor Football season was the fourth season of the CIF. The regular season began on March 3, when the Wichita Force traveled to Salina Liberty, losing 17–15. The regular season concluded on June 10. This was the second season in which four teams per conference advanced to the Champions Bowl playoffs, with the top seed in each conference hosting their conference's fourth seed, and second seeds hosting third seeds in the first round.

The 2020 Indoor Football League season was the twelfth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and the first season of being the top indoor football league, after the folding of the Arena Football League. The league was set to play the season with thirteen teams, up from ten the previous season, by adding three expansion teams, one team from Champions Indoor Football, and one team folding.
