The Este River (in Portuguese Rio Este) is a river in Portugal. It flows into the Ave River.
The source of the river is in Este (São Pedro e São Mamede), Braga. Along its 45-kilometre (28 mi) course to the Ave River, it passes through Famalicão and Póvoa de Varzim.

The Tâmega or Támega is a river in Galicia, Spain and Portugal. It begins its course near Verín, Galicia, Spain, and flows to Portugal in the provinces of Trás-os-Montes and Douro Litoral.
The Rio Mondego or Mondego River is the longest river entirely within Portuguese territory. It has its source in Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal. It runs 234 kilometres (145 mi) from the Gouveia municipality, at 1,425 metres (4,675 ft) above sea level in Serra da Estrela, to its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean next to the city of Figueira da Foz.

The district of Braga is a district in the northwest of Portugal. The district capital is the city of Braga, and it is bordered by the district of Viana do Castelo in the north, Vila Real in the east, Galicia in the northeast and Porto in the south. Minho was a former province in Portugal, established in 1936 and dissolved in 1976. It consisted of 23 municipalities, with its capital in the city of Braga. Today, the area would include the districts of Braga and Viana do Castelo. Minho has substantial Celtic influences and shares many cultural traits with neighbouring Galicia in Northwestern Spain. The region was part of the Roman Province and early Germanic medieval Kingdom of Gallaecia. Historical remains of Celtic Minho include Briteiros Iron Age Hillfort, the largest Gallaecian native stronghold in the Entre Douro e Minho region, in North Portugal. The University of Minho, founded in 1973, takes its name from the former province.
Póvoa de Varzim, with an area of 82.06 square kilometres, lies between the Cávado and Ave Rivers, or, from a wider perspective, halfway between the Minho and Douro Rivers on the northern coast of Portugal. Although in administrative reforms of 1936, the city was integrated in Douro Litoral, the case for such an administrative integration is arguable, because Póvoa de Varzim is found in a transition region. It has characteristic Minho traditions, historical and demographic bounds with several towns and villages in the region, religiously it is part of Braga archdiocese, and due to that it is perhaps preferable to recognize Póvoa as part of the old region, favouring more Entre-Douro-e-Minho, given its central geographic position in this region.
São Félix Hill or Mount São Félix, Monte de São Félix in Portuguese, is the highest hill in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal, as measured by the height above sea level of its summit, 202 metres (663 ft).

Vaupés River is a tributary of the Rio Negro in South America. It rises in the Guaviare Department of Colombia, flowing east through Guaviare and Vaupés Departments. It forms part of the international border between the Vaupés department of Colombia and the Amazonas state of Brazil. On the border it merges with the Papurí River and becomes known as the Uaupés. In 1847 an explorer saw a rapid which hurled its waves 12 or 15 metres in the air, "as if great subaqueous explosions were taking place." The river continues on east through the Alto Rio Negro Indigenous Territory until it flows into the Rio Negro at São Joaquim, Amazonas. Vaupés is a blackwater river.

Arcos is a former civil parish in the municipality of Vila do Conde, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into Rio Mau e Arcos, a newer parish. In 2011 the population was 819 in an area of 5.81 km². It is situated on the Ave River near the north-eastern frontier with the municipality of Barcelos, and resides in the shadow of its larger municipal neighbor.
