Eternity is a 2025 American fantasy romantic comedy film directed by David Freyne, written by Pat Cunnane, and starring Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, John Early, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
After death, everybody gets one week to choose where to spend eternity. For Joan, Larry, and Luke, it's really a question of who to spend it with. Joan must choose between her first love, who died in a war, or the man she built her life with.
Pat Cunnane's script for Eternity was voted onto The Black List of most-liked unproduced screenplays in 2022. [2] In March 2024, David Freyne was hired to direct the film for A24 with Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner signed in to star. [3] In late May, Da'Vine Joy Randolph joined the cast. [4] In June, John Early and Olga Merediz joined the cast. [5] David Fleming composed the score. [6]
Principal photography began on May 24, 2024, in Vancouver, and production wrapped on July 5. [7] [8]
Eternity premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025, [9] before being released theatrically in the United States for a limited release in November 14, 2025 before releasing nationwide in November 26, 2025. [10]
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes,100% of 11 critics' reviews are positive. [11] On Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, the film holds a score of 64/100 based on nine critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews. [12]
