Ethan Cochran (born January 9, 1994) is an American discus thrower.

He won a silver medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics. [1]

Cochran attended Newport Harbor High School, where he played varsity football until suffering a concussion during his senior season, after which he decided to focus on his track career. [2] [3] He competed for the California Golden Bears between 2013 and 2016 where he broke numerous records which included setting the all-time record for discus throw as a freshman.

He was a USA Today All-American track and field selection in 2012. [4]

Upon retiring from athletics, Cochran founded White Wire LLC a technology startup based in Sheridan, Wyoming. [5]

Maric spent the springs of 2010 and 2011 as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Florida.

The men's discus throw throwing event at the 1960 Summer Olympics took place on September 6 & September 7. Thirty-five athletes from 22 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Al Oerter of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and 10th overall victory in the men's discus throw. It was Oerter's second gold medal in the event; he would go on to win four. Oerter was the sixth man to win two medals in the event, and the third to win two gold medals. The United States earned its second consecutive and third overall medal sweep in the event, as Rink Babka took silver and Dick Cochran bronze.

Andrew Bloom is an American former Olympic shot putter, two-time national indoor shot put champion, World University Games shot put champion, and NCAA champion in both discus and shot put.

Kibwé Johnson is an American Olympic track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. He has represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics three times. Competed in the 2012 London Olympics where he made the final and finished 9th. No American had made the final since 1996. Johnson competed in 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Jason Young is an American discus thrower who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing 19th. At Texas Tech, Young was a two-time All-American in track and field and placed second in the discus at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Championship. In 2010 and 2011, he was the runner-up in discus at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He finished 2010 as the number two ranked discus thrower in the world, and has been ranked among the top ten in the United States six times.

On May 27, 2023, Crouser reset his outdoor world record with a throw of 23.56m bettering his previous world record by 7.48 inches/19 cm. In 2021, at the U.S. Olympic Trials he threw 23.37 m to break Randy Barnes's 31-year-old record of 23.12 m by almost 10 inches (25 cm). Crouser is also a two-time World Champion and the World Championship Record holder in the shot put 23.51m, just 2+12 in off his world record.

Rudy Winkler is an American male track and field athlete who competes in the hammer throw. He is the NACAC area record holder and American record holder with a throw of 82.71 m (271 ft 4 in) for the hammer and holds a personal best of 23.32 m for the weight throw. He was the hammer national champion in 2016 and 2020, winning the 2016. and 2020 United States Olympic Trials.

Valarie Carolyn Allman is an American track and field athlete specializing in the discus throw. She won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Allman earned bronze at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, which made her the first American woman to win a world championship medal in the discus throw and later added a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships. She is the North American record holder for the event.
