Ethan Walker (born September 1, 1997) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Waterdogs of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and the Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He played collegiately for the Denver Pioneers, where he holds the all-time points record.

Early life

Walker was born in Peterborough, Ontario. [2] He began playing lacrosse at age two. [3] He played box lacrosse before moving during his sophomore year to play field lacrosse at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. [4] He verbally committed to the University of Denver at the age of 15. [4] In his senior season in 2015–16, he tallied 108 goals and 53 assists, helping the team to a 20–3 record, and was named the USA Today boys' lacrosse player of the year. [5] He totaled 316 goals and 105 assists over three seasons, passing the 100-goal mark every year. [4] [6]

College career

Walker scored a hat trick in each of his first three games for the Denver Pioneers to start the 2017 season. [7] He contributed eight points in the game that clinched the Big East Conference regular-season title, setting the single-game program record for points by a freshman. [8] He then set the program record for total points by a freshman with 72 points on 40 goals and 32 assists and was named the Big East freshman of the year. [2] [7] Denver made it to the semifinals of the 2017 NCAA tournament but lost to eventual champions Maryland, though Walker was named to the all-tournament team. [2] [9]

Walker led the Pioneers with 70 points on 48 goals and 22 assists in the 2018 season, being nominated for the Tewaaraton Award and named third-team USILA All-American. [2] He again led the team with 52 points on 39 goals and 13 assists in 2019 and was nominated for the Tewaaraton Award for a second time. [2] In the off-season later that year, he won the Mann Cup with the Peterborough Lakers. [10] Following his 2020 senior season being truncated by the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to lead the team with 39 goals and totaled 60 points in the 2021 season. [2] [11] A four-time first-team Big East honoree, Walker holds multiple career program records, including most points (279) and most assists (98). [2]

NLL

Georgia Swarm

Walker was drafted 10th overall by the Georgia Swarm in the 2020 NLL entry draft. [11] He made 10 appearances for the Swarm in the 2022 season, registering 30 points on 8 goals and 22 assists. [12]

Albany FireWolves

Walker was traded to the Albany FireWolves on August 24, 2022. [12] He recorded 56 points on 26 goals and 30 assists in the 2023 season, though the team won only three games. [1] [13] He became an assistant captain of the FireWolves in the 2024 season. [1] He recorded 40 points in the first eight games of the season. [14]

PLL

Philadelphia Waterdogs

Walker was drafted 27th overall by the Philadelphia Waterdogs in the 2021 PLL college draft. [15] [16] He made five appearances in the 2021 season, recording 14 points on 4 goals and 10 assists. He recorded 13 points on 9 goals and 4 assists in the 2022 season as the Waterdogs went on to win the PLL championship. In the 2023 season, he recorded 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists in 10 appearances. [17]

International career

Walker represented Canada at the Under-19 World Lacrosse Championships in 2016, where they finished runners-up to the United States. [18] [19]

Personal life

In September 2022, Walker moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to become the director of Building Champions Lacrosse, an academy program at the HomeField KC sports facility. [20]

Walker is in a relationship with professional soccer player Jenna Winebrenner formerly of the Kansas City Current. [20] They got engaged in July 2024. [21]

The 2020 Premier Lacrosse League season was the second season for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The season was originally set to begin on May 29 and culminate with a championship game played in late September. Due to the spread of COVID-19, the league postponed the start of their season, and in May announced their season would take place as a championship series between July 25 and August 9, replacing NBCUniversal's coverage of the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Championship Series consisted of playoff seedings based on 4 games of group play taking place at Zions Bank Stadium just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. The series began with the Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club as the defending league champions and the Waterdogs Lacrosse Club joining the league as an expansion team.

The 2021 Premier Lacrosse League season was the third season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The 2021 season represented a return to the tour-based format that the league followed in 2019 after playing a bubble tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. 2021 also represented a return to one unified professional Field Lacrosse format after Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League announced they were merging on December 16, 2020. This monumental merger saw the PLL adopt the naming rights to all former MLL teams, as well as Cannons Lacrosse Club moving from the MLL to the PLL as an 8th team set by expansion draft. The Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club were the two-time defending league champions. Chaos Lacrosse Club took revenge against Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club by defeating them in the championship game on September 19 at Audi Field by a score of 9–14.

Jules Nehemiah Heningburg is an American professional lacrosse player on the Redwoods Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League and Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League. He played college lacrosse at Rutgers University where he was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and All-American. Heningburg was selected 7th overall in the first round of the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Draft by the Florida Launch.

Zach Currier is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who currently plays as a midfielder for Waterdogs Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League and as a transition player for the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League.

The 2023 Premier Lacrosse League Season was the fifth season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). It was held from June 3 through September 24.

The 2024 Premier Lacrosse League Season is the ongoing 6th season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).The regular season began on June 3 and will run through August 17th. The playoffs will occur from September 2 through September 15. This is the first season where PLL teams are assigned to home cities.
