Eucheeanna, also known as Euchee Anna, is an unincorporated community in Walton County, in the U.S. state of Florida. [1] It was the county seat from 1845, when Florida became a state, until 1885 when its courthouse burned and the county was moved several miles away to DeFuniak Springs.
The community was named after the Yuchi (or Euchee) Indians [2] and settled by Scotch Presbyterians in 1823. [3] The area was known as Euchee Anna Valley Lands.
Daniel G. McLean lived in the area and corresponded with a firm in New York about red cedar prices. [4] He was a resident of the area in 1847 when he served as President of the Florida Senate. [5] He was part of the community's mason lodge. [6]
Starting in 1845, Eucheeanna became the county seat of Walton County, which was previously located in Alaquah.
Union troops, led by General Alexander Asboth marched through and razed Eucheeanna on their way towards Marianna and Tallahassee. [7]
An act of arson burned the courthouse located in Eucheeanna. After it was burned in 1885, the county seat was moved to De Funiak Springs. [7]
Locations of note still remaining in Eucheeanna are the Euchee Valley Presbyterian Church and the Euchee Valley Cemetery.

The Dominickers are a small biracial or triracial ethnic group that was once centered in the Florida Panhandle county of Holmes, in a corner of the southern part of the county west of the Choctawhatchee River, near the town of Ponce de Leon. The group was classified in 1950 as one of the "reputed Indian-White-Negro racial isolates of the Eastern United States" by the United States Census Bureau.
Sam Story, also named Timpoochee Kinnard, was Chief of the Walton County, Florida, band of Euchee (Yuchi) Indians in the early 19th century, who occupied the lands on and to the west of the Choctawhatchee River. His parents were Timothy Kinnard, a white man of Scottish descent, and an unknown Yuchi woman. The chief was a well-known figure in the Florida Panhandle and was highly respected by whites, who migrated to the area in ever-increasing numbers following the acquisition of Florida by the United States from Spain in 1821.

State Road 83 is the state designation for U.S. Route 331 between US 98(SR 30) in Santa Rosa Beach and US 90(SR 10) in DeFuniak Springs. It also includes an independent route from DeFuniak Springs to the Florida-Alabama State Line. The entire route is in Walton County.
Northwest Florida State College is a public college in Niceville, Florida. It is part of the Florida College System and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Northwest Florida State College has multiple campuses but has operated continuously on its Niceville campus since 1963. The college also operates a charter high school, the Collegiate High School at Northwest Florida State College, which opened in 2000.
Walton-DeFuniak Library is a historic library located at 3 Circle Drive, in DeFuniak Springs, Walton County, Florida in the United States. Opened in 1887, it is the oldest continuously run library in the state. It is a contributing property in the DeFuniak Springs Historic District. The City of DeFuniak Springs and the commissioner’s office of the city donate funds to the Walton-DeFuniak library in order to keep the library running for patron benefit. While the original Walton-DeFuniak library was opened in 1886, there has been some debate as to exactly which library is the oldest in the state of Florida. Historians will say that the oldest library in Florida is actually located in St. Augustine.
The Blackford County Courthouse is a historic building located in Hartford City, Indiana, the county seat of Blackford County. The building stands on a public square in the city's downtown commercial district. Built during the Indiana Gas Boom, most of the construction work was completed in 1894. The current courthouse was preceded by another courthouse building on the same site, which was declared inadequate by a judge in 1893, and was torn down. Following the condemnation of the original courthouse, the county's judicial activities were temporarily located in a building across the street.

He signed the first Florida Constitution in 1838 at St. Joseph, served in the Florida Senate including as President of the Florida Senate, served as Speaker of the Florida Territory's legislature, and was Grandmaster of the Masons. He was a Whig. He lived in Euchee Anna.
