European Masters Mountain Running Championships

The European Masters Mountain Running Championships is a biennial one-day international competition in mountain running for masters athletes aged 35 and over, organised by European Masters Athletics. First held in 2006, the competition began to be held in odd-numbered years. It is usually held in the middle of the year. The competition will incorporate trail running for the first time in 2020, as the European Masters Mountain and Trail Running Championships. [1]

Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking.

Mountain running

Mountain running is a sports discipline which takes place mainly off-road in mountainous terrain, but if there is significant elevation gain on the route, surfaced roads may be used. In this it differs from fell running; also its courses are more clearly marked and avoid dangerous sections. It is a form of trail running if it is run on unpaved surfaces. Mountain running is a combination of running, jogging, and walking, depending on how steep the trail is.

European Mountain Running Championships

The European Mountain Running Championships is an annual international mountain running race. Inaugurated in 2002, it is organised by the European Athletic Association (EAA) in July each year. The venue for the championships is changed each year.

Gabre Gabric Italian athlete

The 2012 World Mountain Running Championships were held on 2 September in Val Camonica in the Italian Alps. The course ran from Temù - Ponte di Legno to Tonale Pass. It was the 28th edition of the championships, organised by the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA), and the seventh time that Italy had hosted the competition. The competition featured four races, with senior and junior (under-19) races for both men and women. A total of 343 runners from a record high of 40 nations finished the competition.

The South American Mountain Running Championships is an annual Mountain running competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. The event was established in 2006.

The WMRA World Cup is an annual series of mountain running competitions organised by the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) that runs from around May to October. Athletes are awarded points for each performance on the tour. Its predecessor was the Alpine Grand Prix, a 1997 formation including four European races in the Alps region. It formally became the WMRA Grand Prix in 1999 and subsequently expanded to six races in 2001. It reverted to four races in 2007 and from 2008 onwards began to vary between five and seven races. The competition took its current title World Cup in 2014.

2014 European Masters Athletics Championships

The nineteenth European Masters Athletics Championships were held in Izmir, Turkey, from August 22–31, 2014. The European Masters Athletics Championships serve the division of the sport of athletics for people over 35 years of age, referred to as masters athletics.

Andrew Davies (British runner) British athlete

Andrew Davies is a British long distance runner and mountain runner. He competed in the men's marathon at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics, placing 31st in 2:17:59.

Maria Grazia Roberti is an Italian female mountain runner and snowshoe runner, who won three World Snowshoe Championships.

The 2019 Russian Athletics Championships was held from 24–27 July at the Olympic Stadium in Cheboksary. It was the seventh time that the capital of the Chuvash Republic hosted the event. The 1995 European Mountain Running Trophy was the inaugural edition of the annual international mountain running competition between European countries, organised by the World Mountain Running Association. It was held on 15 July in Valleraugue, France, and featured 12-kilometre races for both men and women. In the men's race Austria's Helmut Schmuck was victorious with minor medallists Antonio Molinari and Davide Milesi leading Italy to the men's team title.
