Evan Winter is a Canadian author of epic fantasy. [1] His first novel, The Rage of Dragons, was originally self-published in 2017. [2] In 2020, TIME named it one of the 100 best fantasy books of all time. [3] A sequel, called The Fires of Vengeance, was published in 2020. [4]
Following its initial publication, Orbit Books re-released The Rage of Dragons and signed Winter to a four-book deal. The Rage of Dragons was on the long list of the CBC's 2020 Canada Reads . [5]
Winter was born in England to South American parents of African ancestry and raised in Zambia. [6] [7] [8] He has also worked as a filmmaker, creative director, and a bartender. [7]
George Raymond Richard Martin also known by the initials G.R.R.M. is an American author, television writer, and television producer. He is best known as the author of the series of epic fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire, which were adapted into the Primetime Emmy Award–winning television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and its prequel series House of the Dragon (2022–present). A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of high fantasy novels by the American author George R. R. Martin. He began writing the first volume, A Game of Thrones, in 1991, and published it in 1996. Martin, who originally envisioned the series as a trilogy, has so far released five out of seven planned volumes. The fifth and most recent entry in the series, A Dance with Dragons, was published in 2011. Martin continues to write the sixth novel, titled The Winds of Winter. The Winds of Winter is the planned sixth novel in the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by American writer George R. R. Martin. The manuscript is expected to be over 1,500 pages in length. Its writing started no later than 2010, and it has been delayed several times, such that Martin has refrained from making further hard estimates for the novel's final release date. Martin stated in October 2022 that he had completed approximately three quarters of the novel, estimating that he had written approximately 1,100 to 1,200 pages, and had roughly 400 to 500 pages left. He gave a similar estimate in November 2023, saying that he was "struggling" with the manuscript.
