Eve Air Mobility is a Brazilian subsidiary of Embraer which produces electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and urban air mobility infrastructure. [3] The company was founded on 15 October 2020. [1] EVE is a brand that was idealized by the innovation division of Embraer called EmbraerX. [1]
Embraer's objective with this new company is to accelerate the creation of solutions to make the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market a reality. [1] The main project of the company is the eVTOL EVE, that concept was presented to the public on 8 May 2018, before the creation of the company. [4]
The first simulator flight of EVE was conducted by Embraer in the city of Rio de Janeiro in September 2021, with the purpose to test the future route for eVTOLs. [5] In the first months of 2022, the company was listed on NYSE priced at US$2.9 billion under the code EVEX in partnership with the American fund Zanite Acquisition Corp. [6]
On 12 December 2021, Embraer and BAE Systems announced plans to embark on a joint study to explore the development of Eve's vehicle for the defence and security market. [7] As of January 2022, Embraer signed contracts with seventeen companies for 1,735 orders of eVTOLs, valued at US$5 billion, [8] already aiming the global market leadership. [9]
On 10 February 2022, Embraer requested to National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) the certification for the eVTOL EVE. [10]
In 2022, the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange following the company's merger with Zanite Acquisition Corp. [11] In June 2023, Embraer announced the first production line of EVE in the city Taubaté, interior of the state of São Paulo. [12]
As of November 2023, Embraer holds a 90% stake of EVE, the rest of the shares are divided between investor companies such as United Airlines, SkyWest, Republic Airlines, Rolls-Royce, and the shares listed on NYSE. [13]

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is the use of small, highly automated aircraft to carry passengers or cargo at lower altitudes in urban and suburban areas which have been developed in response to traffic congestion. It usually refers to existing and emerging technologies such as traditional helicopters, vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft (VTOL), electrically propelled, vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft (eVTOL), and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These aircraft are characterized by the use of multiple electric-powered rotors or fans for lift and propulsion, along with fly-by-wire systems to control them. Inventors have explored urban air mobility concepts since the early days of powered flight.
