Evelyn Mora (born Kimia Moradzadeh; 9 April 1992) is a Finnish entrepreneur and the founder of Helsinki Fashion Week, which was managed by the Nordic Fashion Week Association. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Mora is of French-Finnish[ citation needed ] and Iranian descent through her mother. [5] Born in Vaasa, Finland, and raised in Helsinki, Mora worked as a fashion photographer in Paris and London before returning to Finland. [4] [6]
Mora founded Helsinki Fashion Week, an event that focused on an eco-conscious and sustainable approach to the fashion industry. [7]
In 2019, the event banned the use of leather in garments shown during the week. [8] [9] Vogue Italy described it as "the very first 100% fully sustainable fashion week," [10] though Mora later clarified that "there is no such thing as 100% sustainable yet," stating that sustainability is more of "a mindset." [11] [12]
In 2021, the Nordic Fashion Week filed for bankruptcy. [13] That same year, Mora founded VLGE, an internet company based in Paris. [14]
Mora was also the founder of Studio Eneas, which faced criticism from industry professionals for charging aspiring models and their parents for "paid folders" and overseas trips. [15] Following the criticism, Studio Eneas ceased operations and rebranded as the Evelyn Mora Corporation. [16]
In 2022, Mora reportedly became the first female founder and CEO to receive a $2 million investment from the L'Oréal Group's Female Founders Fund. [17]
She also serves as a board member for the Nordic Fashion Association. [18]
