Evelyn Mora (born Kimia Moradzadeh; April 9, 1992) is a Finnish entrepreneur and the founder of Helsinki Fashion Week, managed by the Nordic Fashion Week Association. [1] [2] [3] [4] In 2021, Nordic Fashion Week filed for bankruptcy, [5] and Mora founded VLGE Inc., an internet company in Paris. [6] Mora was also the founder of Studio Eneas, which faced criticism from others in the fashion industry for charging aspiring models and their parents for "paid folders" and thousands of euros for overseas trips. [7] In response, Studio Eneas ceased operations and rebranded as the Evelyn Mora Corporation. [8]

Helsinki Fashion Week, founded by Evelyn Mora, became the world’s first and most sustainable fashion week, recognized globally for its eco-conscious approach to the fashion industry. [9] In 2020, she introduced the world’s first 3D fashion week,[ citation needed ] revolutionizing the industry with a fully digital and immersive event powered by virtual avatars. As the founder and CEO of VLGE Inc., Evelyn Mora secured $2 million in funding from the British Fashion Council and Venrex to develop metaverse technology and expand the platform’s capabilities. In 2022, she became the first female founder and CEO to receive a $2 million investment from the L’Oréal Group’s Female Founders Fund, solidifying her position as a leader in merging sustainability, technology, and fashion innovation. [10]

Biography

French-Finnish Mora is also of Iranian descent through her mother. [11] Born in Vaasa and raised in Helsinki, Finland, Mora worked as a fashion photographer in Paris and London before returning to Finland. [4] [12] In 2019 the event banned the use of leather in garments shown during the week. [13] [14] Vogue Italy described the event as "the very first 100% fully sustainable fashion week," [15] which Mora later corrected in various outlets noting "there is no such thing as 100% sustainable yet" and that sustainability is more of "a mindset." [16] [17]

Mora is a board member of the Nordic Fashion Association. [18]
