Evelyn Turrentine-Agee (born February 4, 1946, as Ruth Evelyn Tyler), is an American gospel musician and artist. She started her music career, in 1992, with the release of In God's Own Time by A&M Records. She has released eight more albums, since her first release, with an assortment of labels, which are World Wide Gospel, Atlanta International Records, Light Records, WOS Recordings, Ophir Gospel, Shanachie Records. Five albums have charted on the Billboard magazine charts, which have primarily come on the Gospel Albums chart.

Early life

Turrentine-Agee was born Ruth Evelyn Tyler on February 4, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, [1] She was born as the third sibling in an eighteen sibling household. [1] Her father, Cleveland Tyler, was a minister in the church, and her mother is Ruthie Mae Tyler. [1] [2] She started singing on stage at the age of three because her father was in a quartet, and later they formed a family gospel girl group, The Tylerettes. [1] She graduated high school by seventeen, and this enabled her to make her first record. [1] Her education would not get forsaken because of her musical acumen and prowess because she graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial psychology that she earned at the University of Detroit. [1] Many gospel music groups tried to get her to join them, but her stay with them was rather brief because she had a strong desire for a solo music career. [1]

Music career

Her solo musical recording career started in 1992, with A&M Records releasing, In God's Own Time, [3] and this was her Billboard magazine debut charting release on the Gospel Albums chart. [4] She would go on to release eight more albums, and the four others to chart were the following: God Did It in 2000, It's Already Done in 2003, Go Through in 2005, Born to Worship in 2013. [3] [4]

Personal life

While in college, she married Curtis Turrentine, [1] and together they have survived her husband having alcoholism that he was delivered from 1993, while she survived a stroke in 1997. [5] They have 11 children and 40 grandchildren that are living. [6]

She started her music career, in 2013, with the release of So Good by Tyscot Records. She saw her first studio album, So Good, chart on two Billboard charts the Top Gospel Albums and Heatseekers Albums. She also released her second studio album "I Got You (Live)" on September 22, 2017.

This will lead into the release of Darlene McCoy later on that year. This album was her breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine charts, which it placed on the Gospel Albums chart. She has released seven more albums, since her first release, with two more labels A&M Records and Dorohn Records. Two albums have charted on the Billboard magazine charts, which have primarily come on the Gospel Albums chart.

Judith Jacobs Tuttle, known professionally as Judy Jacobs, is an American gospel musician. She started her music career when she attended Lee College in 1984, singing with the New Harvest singers and releasing her album in 1987 "Judy Jacobs: with New Harvest." published by Pathway Press. She has released eight more albums, since her first release, with two more labels New Day Records and Daywind Records. Two albums have charted on the Billboard magazine charts, which have exclusively come on the Gospel Albums chart.

Wanda Nero Butler is an American gospel musician. Her first album, Reach for His Love, was released by Sog Secret in 1987, and her second album, New Born Soul, was released by the label in 1989. The subsequent two albums, Wanda and Live in Atlanta, was released in 1991 by Light Records. She released, Chike-Anyabwille, All to the Glory of God, and Family Prayer, was released in 1994, 1996, and 1999 respectively by Sound of Gospel. All albums charted with the lone exception of Wanda on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart.

Keith Anthony Staten is an American gospel musician. He started his solo music career, in 1990, with the release of, From the Heart, by Lection Records. This was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. His subsequent album, No Greater Love, was released in 1995 by Glorious Music, but it failed to chart. The third album, Worship in the House, was released by Word Records in tandem with Epic Records in 1996, and this album charted on the Christian Albums chart. He released, Glory in the House, in 1995 with the aforementioned labels, however this time around it charted on the Gospel Albums chart.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Erica Campbell</span> American singer-songwriter

Erica Monique Campbell is an American urban contemporary gospel, Christian R&B and contemporary R&B singer and songwriter. She started her music career in 1998 with her younger sister, Tina Campbell, as part of the gospel music group, Mary Mary. Her solo music career began in 2013, and has since released two albums with Entertainment One Music, which both charted on the Billboard magazine charts. She won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album at the 57th edition of the event. Since May 2016, she has been the host of Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell with comedian Griff, currently distributed by Reach Media, the syndication arm of Urban One.
