Everest VR is an interactive media experience that simulates in virtual reality the ascent to the summit of Mount Everest.
Everest VR is a virtual reality experience about two hours in length with no gameplay elements. The experience begins with a narration about Mount Everest and its dangerous Khumbu Icefall. The player crosses a metal ladder to cross a deep crevasse and proceeds up the mountain. Several detours quicken the player's ascension. [1]
The Icelandic virtual reality content company Solfar developed Everest VR as one of two games for release in 2016. They constructed their virtual Everest using stereophotogrammetry, which used supercomputers to combine photographs taken from a variety of angles to generate a color, three-dimensional image in high resolution. The Icelandic special effects company Reykjavik Visual Effects (RVX) partnered with Solfar to complete the game. [1]

Originally launched for Microsoft Windows for use with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, CCP Games has announced they plan to enable cross-platform play between the three major VR systems: the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, and the PlayStation VR. Released in March 2016, the game has two game mode options: Chronicles can be played in single player, while Combat allows eight by eight combat PvP missions. Reviews generally criticised the limited plot and limitations of single player mode, although the described "arcade experience" was praised for having intuitive controls and "exhilarating" dogfighting features, with PC Powerplay dubbing it "arguably the best VR experience currently available for the [Oculus Rift] platform."
Meta Quest is a subsidiary of Meta Platforms Inc. that produces virtual reality headsets. Its bestselling products include the Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest lines. The company was founded in July 2012, by Palmer Luckey, Brendan Iribe, Michael Antonov and Nate Mitchell in Irvine, California. In April 2015, Luckey announced the Rift, a virtual reality headset designed for video gaming. Funding for the Rift came largely from a Kickstarter campaign to make virtual reality headsets available to developers. The campaign proved successful and raised US$$2.4 million, ten times the original goal of $250,000. Two pre-production models were released to developers.

The Void was a franchise of mixed reality entertainment attractions. Co-founded by businessman Ken Bretschneider as a re-focusing of a plan to build an attraction in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and described by some as being a virtual reality "theme park", these facilities feature virtual reality experiences leveraging a combination of head-mounted displays with positional tracking, haptic feedback and special effects systems to allow patrons to freely explore and interact with virtual settings within the confines of specially-designed environments. The Void’s locations closed permanently in March 2020.
