Evrard Wendenbaum (born 13 March 1979) is a French outdoor photographer, filmmaker, geologist and explorer.
Since 2001, from his numerous expeditions, he brought a large number of publications in the French press (including Paris-Match, Sport, Vertical, Montagnes Magazine and Climbing) and International (including Aktuell, View, Pareti, Alpinist, Rock and Ice, Escalar, Muntana, Alp and Klatring). His photos have also regularly fuelled means of communication (catalogues, posters, press advertising and websites) of various companies (including Petzl, Beal, Expé, Vertical, Lafuma and Migoo) and institutions (City Grenoble).
In 2006, he directed his first film during a climbing expedition in Venezuela. Amazonian Vertigo won 11 awards in the greatest adventure and mountain film festival for best adventure film, best mountain film, best climbing film,... In 2007, Makay : le dernier Eden, a 26-minute documentary following the first exploration of the Makay massif in Madagascar, won the best biodiversity film award in Marseille. In 2008, he followed with two video clips for Nike ACG and two short documentary films about two expeditions in Alaska. In 2009, he directed Le méridien des Ecrins about a mountain self-supported high altitude adventure in the Ecrins massif in France. This film won two awards as best mountain film. In 2010 and 2011, he co-authored and played his own role as expedition leader of a great scientific expedition in the Makay massif. This film, the first adventure film shot in 3D will be released by the end of 2011 on Canal+ and Discovery channel.[ needs update ] He also directed and is currently editing two other scientific documentaries.
This nature-lovers and indefatigable adventurous travels the world in search of unexplored and inaccessible corners. Since 1999, he organized many expeditions, sporting first (climbing, trekking, mountaineering, canyoning, kayaking), and then recently, he went on scientific and exploration projects, the greatest of it being his last expedition conducted during three months in winter 2011 in Madagascar in the mountain of Makay.
Adventure racing is typically a multidisciplinary team sport involving navigation over an unmarked wilderness course with races extending anywhere from two hours up to two weeks in length. Some races offer solo competitions as well. The principal disciplines in adventure racing include trekking, mountain biking, and paddling although races can incorporate a multitude of other disciplines including climbing, abseiling, horse riding, skiing and white water rafting. Teams generally vary in gender and in size from two to five competitors, however, the main format is considered to be mixed-gender teams of four racers. There is typically no suspension of the clock during races, irrespective of length; elapsed competition time runs concurrently with real-time, and competitors must choose if or when to rest.
The Barre des Écrins is a mountain in the French Alps with a peak elevation of 4,102 metres (13,458 ft). It is the highest peak of the Massif des Écrins and the Dauphiné Alps and the most southerly alpine peak in Europe that is higher than 4,000 metres. It is the only 4,000-metre mountain in France that lies outside the Mont Blanc Massif. Before the annexation of Savoy in 1860 it was the highest mountain in France.
The National Outdoor Book Award (NOBA) was formed in 1997 as an American-based non-profit program which each year presents awards honoring the best in outdoor writing and publishing. It is housed at Idaho State University and chaired by Ron Watters. It is sponsored by the National Outdoor Book Awards Foundation, Idaho State University and the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education. As of 2021, awards have been presented in 13 categories, although not all categories are awarded in any given year.
Henry Bradford Washburn Jr. was an American explorer, mountaineer, photographer, and cartographer. He established the Boston Museum of Science, served as its director from 1939–1980, and from 1985 until his death served as its Honorary Director. Bradford married Barbara Polk in 1940, they honeymooned in Alaska making the first ascent of Mount Bertha together.

Kit DesLauriers is an American ski-mountaineer who was the first person to ski down the Seven Summits. Her ski-mountaineering feats earned her a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award in 2015. She was the first woman to have won two consecutive World Freeskiing Champion titles, in 2004 and 2005.
Ajeet Bajaj is the first Indian to ski to the North Pole and complete the polar trilogy which entails skiing to the North Pole, South Pole and across the Greenland icecap. Bajaj and his daughter Deeya Bajaj were the first Indian father daughter team to climb Mt. Everest. He completed the Explorer's Grand Slam on 05 June 2022 while completing the Seven Summits with his daughter Deeya.
High adventure is a type of outdoor experience. It typically is meant to include activities like backpacking, hiking, kayaking or canoeing. It may also include mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, orienteering, hang gliding, paragliding and hot air ballooning.
Outdoor recreation or outdoor activity refers to recreation done outside, most commonly in natural settings. The activities that encompass outdoor recreation vary depending on the physical environment they are being carried out in. These activities can include fishing, hunting, backpacking, walking and horseback riding — and can be completed individually or collectively. Mandip Singh Soin is a prominent Indian mountaineer, explorer, adventure travel expert, environmentalist, speaker and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He has spent over forty years in the field of adventure, having gone on expeditions to all the seven continents of the world. His mountaineering ascents and explorations include several Indian “firsts” like the first Indian ascent of Mount Meru in 1986 in the Himalayas as well as several first Indian ascents in the French and Swiss Alps, Italian Dolomites, Wales and Scotland. He is a strong advocate of responsible tourism and the Founder President of the Ecotourism Society of India.
Rhys Jones is an English mountaineer and was the youngest person to climb the Seven Summits, and reached the summit of Mount Everest.
Henri Cordier or Henry Cordier was a French mountaineer. In his short two-year career, he became the first Frenchman to reach the level of the English members of the Alpine Club, in the silver age of alpinism in the second half of the 19th century, which was dominated by the development of mountaineering in the Alps. With some of the Alpine Club's mountain guides and mountaineers, he led significant first ascents in the Mont Blanc massif and in the Dauphiné Alps.

Alain Hubert is a Belgian explorer. He is a certified mountain and polar guide, a civil engineer, and the founder President of the International Polar Foundation. With the Foundation and its private partners, he built and financed the construction of the scientific research station ‘Princess Elisabeth’. This station is the first ‘Zero Emissions’ station in Antarctica, designed under the spirit of the Madrid protocol system establishing in 1992 the strictest environmental rules to date for a continent through the Antarctic Treaty System.

Vernon "Vern" Tejas is an American mountain climber and mountain guide. He is the current world record holder in the amount of time taken to summit all of the Seven Summits consecutively, having also previously held the same record. He was also the first person to solo summit several of the world's tallest peaks. Tejas was named one of the top fifty Alaskan athletes of the twentieth century by Sports Illustrated in 2002. In 2012, he was elected to the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame. Tejas plays the harmonica and guitar. He currently resides in Greenwich Village, New York.
