Expedición Róbinson is a Colombian version of the Survivor reality television game show based on the Swedish television series Expedition Robinson originally created in 1992 by Charlie Parsons. The show is based on stranding a group of strangers as one or more tribes in a remote location, where they must fend for food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves, while competing in challenges to earn rewards and immunity from being voted off by the tribe in progressive eliminations; the last challenger remaining at the end of the competition wins two a reward that ranges from two hundred million to three hundred million pesos prize (100-150 hundred thousandUS$) and title of "Colombian Robinson".

Colombia shares a border to the northwest with Panama, to the east with Venezuela and Brazil and to the south with Ecuador and Peru. Colombia is a unitary, constitutional republic comprising thirty-two departments, with the capital in Bogota.
Reality television is a genre of television programming that documents purportedly unscripted real-life situations, often starring otherwise unknown individuals rather than professional actors. Reality television came to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the global successes of the series Survivor, Idols, and Big Brother, all of which became global franchises. Reality television shows tend to be interspersed with "confessionals", short interview segments in which cast members reflect on or provide context for the events being depicted on-screen. Competition-based reality shows typically feature gradual elimination of participants, either by a panel of judges or by the viewership of the show.
A game show is a type of radio, television, or stage show in which contestants, individually or as teams, play a game which involves answering questions or solving puzzles, usually for money or prizes. Alternatively, a gameshow can be a demonstrative program about a game [while usually retaining the spirit of an awards ceremony]. In the former, contestants may be invited from a pool of public applicants. Game shows often reward players with prizes such as cash, trips and goods and services provided by the show's sponsor prize suppliers.
Expedición Róbinson rights were bought by Caracol TV in 2001. [1] This television network produced the first two seasons of Expedition Robinson. Both seasons were hosted by former beauty queen and actress Margarita Rosa de Francisco. [2] Two years later, rights for Expedición Robinson were sold to RCN TV. The series changed its original name to La Isla de los FamoS.O.S. ("Famous People Island", in English), in which all contestants were celebrities of Colombia. RCN TV has produced three seasons of La Isla de los FamoS.O.S. and all three of them have been hosted by journalist Guillermo Prieto "Pirry". For its part, Caracol TV has developed a variation of the show whose name is El desafío 20-0_ (in which the last number represents the year the season has been aired. i.e. Desafío 20-08 [3] ). So far, five seasons of El Desafío have been aired, three of them hosted by Margarita Rosa de Francisco again.
Margarita Rosa de Francisco Baquero also known as Margarita Rosa and La Mencha is a Colombian telenovela, movie actress, singer and TV presenter.
Celebrity is the fame and public attention accorded by the mass media to individuals or groups or, occasionally, animals, but is usually applied to the persons or groups of people themselves who receive such a status of fame and attention. Celebrity status is often associated with wealth, while fame often provides opportunities to earn revenue.
Desafío is a Colombian reality competition television series produced by Caracol TV. In the show, contestants are isolated in an island and compete for cash and other prizes. The show uses a system of progressive elimination, allowing the contestants to vote off other members until only one final contestant remains and wins a cash prize.
Expedición Robinson aired two seasons in 2001 and 2002, respectively before being sold. Both seasons were a hit in Colombian audience. These seasons followed the same general format as the Swedish series.
The show's first season was filmed during 2001 and was aired later that year. It was set on Bocas del Toro, off the Caribbean Coast of Panama. [4]
Bocas del Toro (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbokaz ðel ˈtoɾo]; meaning "Bull’s river mouths") is a province of Panama. He chose Anny to be voted out. 2 Rolando and Luisa had to compete in another challenge in order to be part of the Final Two. Rolando won the challenge, so Luisa was eliminated.
Expedición Róbinson succeeded and became a hit in the Colombian audience. Caracol TV released a second season the next year, 2002. This time, the show format was changed extensively for the production of numerous 30 minute episodes. Episodes were broadcast from Sunday to Friday, and did not necessarily end with a Tribal Council elimination. Most of elimination episodes happened on Sundays.
This season was called Expedición Robinson: el desafío (desafío means challenge in English) and the chosen location to set the show was Los Haitises National Park, Dominican Republic. Challenges were more difficult than previous season and the contestants were not given any initial supplies, including food, water or matches. Both camps were given merely a water well and a machete, conditions were also extreme because camps were almost completely surrounded by mangroves and it was common both camps were invaded by mosquitos at the sunset.
Los Haitises National Park is a national park located on the remote northeast coast of the Dominican Republic that was established in 1976. It consists of a limestone karst plateau with conical hills, sinkholes and caverns, and there is a large area of mangrove forest on the coast. Other parts of the park are clad in subtropical humid forest and the area has an annual precipitation of about 2,000 mm (79 in). The park contains a number of different habitats and consequently has a great diversity of mammals and birds, including some rare species endemic to the island. Some of the caverns contain pictograms and petroglyphs. The park has become a popular ecotourism destination but the number of tourists allowed to visit is limited.
The Dominican Republic is a country located in the island of Hispaniola, in the Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean region. It occupies the eastern five-eighths of the island, which it shares with the nation of Haiti, making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands, along with Saint Martin, that are shared by two sovereign states. The Dominican Republic is the second-largest Caribbean nation by area at 48,671 square kilometers (18,792 sq mi), and third by population with approximately 10 million people, of which approximately three million live in the metropolitan area of Santo Domingo, the capital city.
A mangrove is a shrub or small tree that grows in coastal saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Mangroves occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics, mainly between latitudes 25° N and 25° S. The total mangrove forest area of the world in 2000 was 137,800 square kilometres (53,200 sq mi), spanning 118 countries and territories.
The price was elevated 225 million Colombian pesos. Contestants were divided into two initial tribes: Mucaro and Kahaya, these Taíno words mean "owl" and "shark", respectively. [5] Mucaro team was represented by red color and Kahaya team was represented by green color.
The show was won by Cristobal Echevarría. He was part of the Mucaro tribe, he made a powerful alliance at the tribal swap. This alliance was known as the Paisa alliance, since all alliance members came from that region of the Country. He won the 225 million pesos price. Camila Puerta, the runner-up, was rewarded with 20 million pesos and an expedition to Australia.

This season began airing on September 5, 2004 and concluded on November 28, 2004. The major twist this season was that the team tribes were divided up by participants country of origin with one tribe, België (Belgium), being composed of contestants from Belgium and one tribe, Nederlands (Netherlands), being composed of contestants from the Netherlands. Another major twist this season came to light in episode 1, when after an initial elimination challenge the two eliminated contestants, Erestine Schweig and Sarah Bleecker, were told that instead of being eliminated they were going to live in an area known as the "Mangrove". From then on, any contestant that either lost a challenge or voted out were sent to the Mangrove. Throughout the competition many contestants living in the Mangrove were given opportunities to re-enter the game, however it was not until episode 9, when the contestants living in the Mangrove won a challenge against the merge tribe, known as Teluk, in order to re-enter the game. Another twist that occurred this season was that of a tribal swap which took place in episode 4. Following the Mangrove contestants return to the game, a power struggle ensued between the Belgian and Dutch contestants. Ultimately, it was Belgian contestant Frank Meulder who won the season over fellow Belgian Matthias Verscheure with an overwhelming majority jury vote of 10-2. The prize for the first seasons of the show was 150,000 euros, for the second and third seasons 250,000 euros, and 500,000 dollars for the fourth season.
Expedición Robinson was the Ecuadorian version of the popular show Expedition Robinson, or Survivor as it is called in some countries. The show only ran for one season that lasted from August 28, 2003, to October 26, 2003, and was presented by Marisa Sánchez. The sixteen contestants were initially split up into two tribes, Akela and Bimbuka both named after indigenous Ecuadorian words. The first major twist of the season occurred in episode three when both tribes were forced to vote out one member of their tribe. In episode four, the show saw its first voluntary exit as Penélope Benalcázar decided to leave the competition. From episode five onwards the Akela tribe began to dominate the challenges, winning two of the three immunity challenges. When it came time for the merge, the Akela tribe quickly fell apart as five of its former members were voted out in a row. When it came time for the final four, the contestants competed in two challenges to determine who would be the final two. Both Tania Tenorio and Victor Herrera lost these challenges and were eliminated. Ultimately, it was Tito Grefa, the only member of the Akela tribe to make the final five, who won the season over Francisco Gordillo with a jury vote of 6-1.
Survivor Africa: Panama was the first pan-regional season of the television show Survivor to air in central or southern Africa and it included contestants from the countries of Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The show was broadcast on the channel M-net from September 3, 2006, to November 19, 2006, during which time twelve episodes aired. The contestants for this season were initially split into two tribes, the Embera tribe, named after Panama's semi-nomadic and heavily body-painted tribe, whose buffs were blue, and the Kuna tribe, named after a traditionally matriarchal and politically organised people of Panama, whose buffs were red. During the pre-merge portion of the program the Embera tribe dominated as they won the majority of both the reward and immunity challenges while Kuna saw their numbers dwindle from six to three. When the tribes merged into the Nagual tribe their buff colors may have changed to yellow, but their original tribal alliances remained and the former members of Embera quickly voted out Yagazie "Yaga" Chuwumerje and Nana Sarpong, leaving Metasebia "Meti" Yilma as the only former Kuna member left in the game. Following the elimination of Nana, Tsholofelo "Tebby" Gasenelwe approached Meti and Olanike "Nike" Gbolahan about forming an all-girl alliance. Once formed, the girl alliance, along with Jeremiah Zulu, voted out both Leonard Mapuranga and the leader of the former Embera alliance, Derrick Assetto. When it came time for the final four, the contestants competed in two challenges in order to determine the final two. The first of these challenges was the "plank" challenge. As Meti was the first person to fall off the plank, she was eliminated from the game. As Tebby was the last person to fall off the plank, she automatically advanced to the final two. The other two contestants competed in a second challenge which Jeremiah won and advanced to the final two while Nike was eliminated. Ultimately, it was Gasenelwe from Botswana who won this season over Jeremiah Zulu with a jury vote of 6–0.

In episode five a tribal swap occurred in which Alfredo "Freddy" Cortina and José "Kaky" Lópe swapped tribes. As part of this twist neither could be voted out before the merge. When the tribes merged, for the first few days following the merge there weren't any reward challenges, and following the acceptance of food from a native in episode 8, it was decided that none of the contestants would be immune at the eighth tribal council. When it came time for the final three, the contestants took part in two challenges in order to determine who would be the finalists. Ultimately, it was Alfredo "Freddy" Cortina who won this season over Antonio "Amate" Amate by 6 jury votes and took home the grand prize of 20,000,000 pesetas. Andrés was voted as the favourite contestants from this season with 37% of public votes and he won the prize of 3,000,000 pesetas.

Tina lost the competition to Mathias and Kim and was eliminated, however she returned in the following episode along with first voted out Katja following a series of voluntary exits. As the winner of the first challenge, Mathias earned his tribe immunity meaning they would not need to compete in the first immunity challenge. Beginning in episode two the winning tribe of the reward challenge would win immunity and exemption from the immunity challenge. In addition, the East Team consists of five former Robinson contestants who return for a second chance to have a chance to become this year's Robinson unbeknownst to the others. A returning feature this season is the dual. However, in this season, the winner of the dual has their tribe exempt from participating in the immunity challenge and therefore, safe from tribal council. The loser of the dual is sent home and has to have their tribe compete in the immunity challenge against the tribe that finished second.
