Expedition of Ghalib ibn Abdullah al-Laithi [4] to Mayfah took place in January 628 AD, 9th Month 7AH, of the Islamic Calendar. [4] [5]
Muhammad sent Ghalib ibn Abdullah al-Laithi as the commander of 130 men to Mayfah on the confines of Nejd, and was sent to launch an attack against Banu ‘Awâl and Banu Thalabah in Ramadan 7 A.H. The settlement was surprised and the Muslims put many to death, and drove off their camels and flock . [6]
Usama, one of the fighters who went along, killed a man, after he had pronounced the testimony of God's Oneness at the last moment just before killing him (see Shahadah) to which incident Muhammad commented addressing his Companions: "Would you rip open his heart to discern whether he is truthful or a liar?" [1] [2]
This was the 4th surprise raid against the Banu Thalabah.

The Banu Udhrah was a Himyari Jewish tribe during the era of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad which converted to Islam after the Expedition of Ukasha bin Al-Mihsan in 627. During this expedition Muhammad ordered an attack on the Banu Assad bin Qhuzayma to capture spoils. The Battle of Tabouk took place in October 630 to attack the Byzantine empire. Mubarakpuri claims that the reason was revenge for the killing of one of Muhammad's ambassadors by a Christian chief of al-Balaqa, which led to the Battle of Mutah. Mubrakpuri claims this was also the reason for the Battle of Tabouk, and that there was a rumour that Heraclius was preparing an attack on the Muslims. William Muir claims Heraclius wanted to prevent the recurrence of Muslim attacks such as the Expedition of Ukasha bin Al-Mihsan against the Banu Udrah tribe. Raid on al-Ghabah was a military expedition of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad that took place in 6AH of the Islamic calendar. No orders given by Muhammad in this expedition but Amr ibn al-Akwa attacks Uyanah bin Hisn Al-Fazari after seeing him seize 20 of Muhammad's camels. One Muslim shepherd was killed, and his wife captured.
Ghalib ibn Abd Allah al-Laythi also known as Ghalib ibn Fadala al-Laythi, was an early companion and commander of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. During the prophet's lifetime, he led several expeditions against the polytheistic Bedouin tribes. He later participated in the conquest of Iraq in 634–636 and briefly as a commander in Khurasan in 668–671.
