Football Club Bagnols-sur-Cèze – Pont-Saint-Esprit (Occitan Banhòus de Céser – Lo Pònt Sant Esperit; commonly referred to as FC Bagnols Pont or simply Bagnols Pont) is a French football club based in Bagnols-sur-Cèze in the Occitanie region. The club was founded on 21 July 2000 following the merger of two local clubs; Union Club Bagnols Jeunesse and Indépendante de Pont-Saint-Esprit. [1] Bagnols Pont currently plays in Régional 1, the sixth tier of French football, spending just one season at the Championnat National 3 level after achieving promotion in the 2021–22 season. [2]

The Cèze is a karstic French river, a right tributary of the Rhône. It runs through the departments of Lozère and Gard in the Occitanie region. It is 128 km (80 mi) long, and its basin area is 1,360 km2 (530 sq mi). Its source is in the Cévennes mountains, near Saint-André-Capcèze. It flows through Bessèges, Saint-Ambroix, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, and it flows into the Rhône at Codolet, southwest of Orange.

The 2010–11 Championnat de France amateur 2 was the 13th edition since its establishment. The reserves of Metz were the defending champions. Due to the elongated appeals process involving each clubs' eligibility, the groups and fixtures were unveiled to the public on 15 July 2010 and the season began on 21 August and ended on 4 June 2011. There were 22 promoted teams from the regional leagues of the Division d'Honneur, replacing the 22 teams that were relegated from the Championnat de France amateur 2 following the 2009–10 season. A total of 130 teams competed in the league with 22 clubs suffering relegation to the sixth division, the Division d'Honneur. All non-reserve clubs that secured league status for the season were subject to approval by the DNCG before becoming eligible to participate.

The 1951 Pont-Saint-Esprit mass poisoning, known in French as Le Pain Maudit, took place on 15 August 1951, in the small town of Pont-Saint-Esprit in Southern France. More than 250 people were involved, including 50 people interned in asylums, and there were seven deaths. A foodborne illness was suspected; among these it was originally believed to be a case of "cursed bread".
