Fabrizio Romano (born 21 February 1993) is an Italian sports journalist. He specializes in news about football transfers, and is known for using the catchphrase "Here we go!" when announcing a transfer deal.
Romano was born in Naples on 21 February 1993 [2] and attended Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. He is multilingual, able to speak English, Spanish, and Italian. [3] Romano is a fan of EFL Championship club Watford. [4]
Romano began his career in football journalism in 2009 while still in high school. [5] Romano was discovered by Garth Crooks, in 2010, while Crooks was MCing a corporate event at Fiat, where Romano was an employee. After being impressed by his knowledge on the Italian game, Crooks e-mailed BBC Director General Tim Davie, suggesting that Romano be given a guest segment on Crook's popular Team of the Week column. [6] His breakthrough came in 2011 when he received insider information from an Italian agent in Barcelona about then-Barcelona youth player Mauro Icardi. [3] Romano joined Sky Sport Italy in 2012, where he established extensive connections with clubs, agents, and intermediaries throughout Europe.
