Face to Face was an American new wave quintet from Boston, Massachusetts, United States. [1]
Guitarist Stuart Kimball (born December 21, 1956) [2] formed the band with close friends in New Hampshire during the late 1970s. The lineup was Laurie Sargent on vocals, Kimball on guitars and keyboards, Angelo Petraglia (identified on their albums simply as 'Angelo') on guitars and keyboards, John Ryder on bass and Billy Beard on drums.
They moved to Boston in 1980 and played there until signing with Epic in 1982. The band's biggest hit was "10-9-8" (from their self-titled first album), which peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After performing as a band for less than 10 years they disbanded in 1988 approximately one year after switching labels to PolyGram Records. Sargent went on to record as a solo artist, and is currently lead singer for the band Twinemen with former members of Face to Face and Morphine. Beard is a music booker at Toad and Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he plays with Session Americana. Kimball plays guitar as a member of Bob Dylan's band in the Never Ending Tour. Petraglia won a Grammy in 2010 for Record of the Year as the Kings of Leon's producer, a band for which he also assists with songwriting duties. Ryder still plays in Boston, doing fundraisers as a founding member of the James Montgomery & Friends band, who were nominated for a Boston Music Award in 2003, and has been working for the Philips corporation for over 10 years.
In the 1984 movie Streets of Fire, the fictional band Ellen Aim and The Attackers, supposedly headed by Diane Lane, actually consisted of the male members of Face to Face, with Laurie, billed as being a member of "Fire Incorporated," providing lead vocals on Ellen's "Never Be You" and "Sorcerer" and harmony on the Jim Steinman-penned song "Nowhere Fast."

Morphine was an American alternative rock group formed by Mark Sandman, Dana Colley, and Jerome Deupree in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1989. After five successful albums and extensive touring, they disbanded after lead vocalist Sandman died of a heart attack onstage in Palestrina, Italy, on July 3, 1999. Founding members have reformed into the band Vapors of Morphine, maintaining much of the original style and sound.

Emerging from the new wave scene in the late 1970s, the line-up consisted of Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes (keyboards), Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, and David Robinson (drums). Ocasek and Orr split lead vocal duties, and Ocasek served as the band's principal songwriter.

Pablo Cruise is an American pop/rock band from San Francisco currently composed of David Jenkins, Cory Lerios, Steve Price (drums) and Larry Antonino. Formed in 1973, the band released eight studio albums over the next decade, during which time five singles reached the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group underwent several personnel changes and split up in 1986. The J. Geils Band was an American rock band formed in 1967, in Worcester, Massachusetts, under the leadership of guitarist John "J." Geils. The original band members included vocalist Peter Wolf, harmonica and saxophone player Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz, drummer Stephen Bladd, vocalist/keyboardist Seth Justman, and bassist Danny Klein. Wolf and Justman served as principal songwriters. The band played R&B-influenced blues rock during the 1970s and soon achieved commercial success before moving towards a more mainstream radio-friendly sound in the early 1980s, which brought the band to its commercial peak. After Wolf left the band in 1983 to pursue a solo career, the band released one more album in 1984 with Justman on lead vocals, before breaking up in 1985. Beginning in 1999, the band had several reunions prior to the death of its namesake, J. Geils, on April 11, 2017.
Long Line is the fourth solo album by Peter Wolf, released in 1996. The album marked a shift in Wolf's music from pop rock to a bluesier rock with more personal, introspective lyrics. It had been six years since the release of his previous album, the delay largely due to legal problems with his previous record company MCA. In the interim, Wolf performed gigs in the Boston area with his band Houseparty Five, who then served as the backing band on his tour for this album under the name The Street Ensemble.

"Nowhere Fast" is a song, performed by Fire Inc. in 1984 for the rock movie Streets of Fire. An alternate version of the song was recorded by Meat Loaf the same year. The song was written by Jim Steinman.

Shout was a Christian glam metal band formed in 1987 by Ken Tamplin. Musically the band was similar to Stryper, but the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music cites them as being "more competent than Stryper". Lyrically, their songs were generally more straightforward than other Christian metal bands such as Bloodgood. The band garnered a Dove Award after their breakup in 1989.

The album was somewhat of a departure for the band, as it showcased the more country-rock material that principal songwriter Angelo Petraglia would later become known for. The group disbanded shortly after the album's release in 1988.
