Since 2015, a Dance Academy, the only Slovenian accredited institution offering diplomas ballet and dance studies, is part of the Alma Mater.
József Györkös is a Slovenian university professor and former politician. He graduated from the University of Maribor and has a PhD in computer science. He is a professor of law at the University of Maribor and a visiting professor at the Fordham University School of Law in New York. The Guardian and The Boston Globe published his legal comments. He serves as the co-chair of the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) Freedom of Expression research group. Toplak is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
