Libya competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The country's participation in Sydney marked its sixth appearance at a Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1964 Games. The delegation included three male athletes; marathon runner Adel Edeli, judoka Tarek Ayad and Nizar Mohamed Naeeli in taekwondo. Edeli did not finish his race, while Ayad and Naeeli were both eliminated in the first bouts of their respective tournaments.
Steven López is an American taekwondo competitor, a 2000 and 2004 Olympic gold medalist and a 2008 Olympic bronze medalist and 4th Dan in taekwondo. In 2001, he won the Lightweight Taekwondo World Championship, and in 2003 he won the Welterweight Taekwondo World Championship which he has since won in 2005, 2007 and 2009 making him the first Taekwondo fighter to win 5 World Championships. With 2 Olympic titles, 5 titles in taekwondo world championships and 1 title in taekwondo world cup he is the most titled champion after Hadi Saei who earns 9 world class titles.
Benin took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics which were held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. The country's participation at Beijing marked its eighth consecutive appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1972, and its ninth Olympic appearance ever. The Benin delegation included five athletes in 2008, participating in three sports: athletics, swimming and taekwondo. Fabienne Feraez, a sprinter, was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. None of the Benin athletes progressed further than the heat round.
Liu Xiaobo is a Chinese taekwondo athlete. He competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal at the latter. Liu also won medals at the 2006 Asian Games and the 2008 and 2012 Asian Taekwondo Championships.
Wu Jingyu is a female Chinese Taekwondo practitioner who won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics in the –49 kg class. She also won several medals at world championships and Asian Games.
Nesar Ahmad Bahawi, born March 27, 1984, in Kapisa Province) is an Afghan Taekwondo practitioner. He won the silver medal in the lightweight category (72 kg) at the 2007 World Taekwondo Championships, edging out 2004 Olympic Champion Hadi Saei in the semifinals. It was the second international medal for Afghanistan in any sport – the first was one by Badamgul Multazim, a heavyweight Taekwondo practitioner.

Robin Haeyoun Cheong is a New Zealand taekwondo athlete, who competed in the Women's 57 kg class at the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China reaching quarter finals and eventually ranked 7th. She won gold medal that same year in the Beijing Olympic Selection competition.
Hou Yuzhuo is a female Chinese Taekwondo practitioner. She won gold medal in 2009 Copenhagen World Taekwondo Championship and the silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Lee Dae-Hoon is a South Korean taekwondo athlete. He won a bronze medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics and a silver in the 2012 Summer Olympics. He has achieved world first level rankings in the under 68 kg weight class.
Joel González Bonilla is a taekwondo practitioner from Spain. He won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in the 58 kg division and the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in the 68 kg category.
Anastasia Vladimirovna Baryshnikova is a Russian taekwondo practitioner. An Olympic bronze medalist in 2012, Baryshnikova won the gold medal in the women's middleweight class at the 2010 European Taekwondo Championships. She also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Chanatip Sonkham or Chanapa Sonkham is a Thai taekwondo practitioner who was the bronze medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the under 49 kg weight class. Sonkham also won bronze medals at the 2010 Asian Games and at the Asian Taekwondo Championships in 2010 and 2012. She won the gold medal at the 2013 World Championship.
Sumeyye Manz is a German taekwondo practitioner of Turkish descent.
Vaughn Scott is a male Taekwondo fighter who represented New Zealand at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the Men's 80kg weight class. He lost his first round fight to Argentine Sebastián Crismanich by a score of 9–5. Because Crismanich went on to win the gold medal, Scott was included in the repechage and lost his fight to Afghan Nesar Ahmad Bahave by a score of 11–6, and was eliminated from the Olympic tournament.
Matthew Francis Beach is a New Zealand taekwondo practitioner of British origin. Beach qualified for the men's heavyweight division (+80 kg) at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after winning the Oceanian Qualification Tournament in Nouméa, New Caledonia. He lost the preliminary round of sixteen match to China's Liu Xiaobo, with a score of 1–4. Beach currently resides in Bogota, Colombia, where he is employed by the British Embassy as an immigration officer.
Ahmad Abughaush is a Jordanian taekwondo athlete. He won the gold medal in the 68 kg category at the 2016 Olympics. This was Jordan's first Olympic medal in any sport, excluding a bronze in 1988 when taekwondo was a demonstration sport.
