Famous is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Jody Hill and written by Chad Hodge. The film is adapted by Chad Hodge from the 2010 novel by Blake Crouch. It stars Zac Efron and Phoebe Dynevor.

Premise

Lance Dunkquist, has one asset that’s about to change his life – he has the face of a movie star. And not just any movie star – Lance is the spitting image of a Hollywood icon, James Jansen. Lance is about to travel to Los Angeles to make his dream come true. Lance is going to be famous, no matter what it takes. [1]

Production

Announced in February 2024, the film is adapted for the screen by Chad Hodge from the novel by author Blake Crouch. Sam Esmail will produce along with Chad Hamilton through Esmail Corp. [2]

Zac Efron is set to have two roles, playing Hollywood actor, James Jansen and his overzealous lookalike fan, Lance Dunkquist. [3] In September 2024, Phoebe Dynevor joined the cast of the film. [4] In November 2024, Nicholas Braun, Stephanie Koenig, Debby Ryan, Mekki Leeper and Cory Michael Smith joined the cast, with Daniel Zovatto and Bill Pullman joining in December. [5] [6]

In July 2024, A24 boarded the project as domestic distributor. [7]

Principal photography began on October 30, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, and it is expected to last until December 17. [8]
