Far Beyond a Distant Sun - Live in Arlington Texas is Captain Beyond's only official live album. It was recorded in 1973, after the release of Sufficiently Breathless , with the four original members reuniting for a brief tour before Rod Evans left. The album was recorded at the University of Texas at Arlington in support of King Crimson.
The album was not officially released until 2002.
Originally this performance was available only through their fan club. Few were sold due to terrible sound quality and crude packaging. The discs were simple CD-Rs with titles silkscreened/painted on top in black, while the covers on front and back were crudely designed. They were packaged by the band members and manager Gary Graber.
During the late 1990s, the master tape was 'worked' on, and a few hundred CDs were pressed. The quality was somewhat improved, but the album still suffered from trying to rework an already bad source into something somewhat better. Bootlegs of this CD version are in circulation.
Faces were an English rock band formed in 1969 by members of Small Faces after lead singer/guitarist Steve Marriott left that group to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces—Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane, and Kenney Jones —were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Rod Stewart, both from the Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces.

Roderic Evans is an English former singer. In the late 1960s he began his professional career in The Maze, formerly MI5, after which he was a member of the original Deep Purple line-up who produced three studio albums with a more progressive and pop-driven sound. After recording a solo single, he was a member of the original Captain Beyond line-up, who produced two studio albums. After a legal struggle with Deep Purple in 1980, Evans turned reclusive and disappeared from public life.

Dawn Explosion, the third and final album by Captain Beyond, was released in 1977. The band had broken up four years before, but Warner Bros. Records signed a deal with the band's original label, Capricorn Records, and contacted the band members asking them to reunite. Because original singer Rod Evans could not be contacted, Captain Beyond held auditions and picked Willy Daffern to replace him. The drummer position was taken by original member Bobby Caldwell rather than his successor Marty Rodriguez.
Sufficiently Breathless, the second album by Captain Beyond, was released in 1973 and features a jazzier, smoother sound than its predecessor, reminiscent of mid-1970s Santana. The medley format of the first album is retained only for the last six minutes of Sufficiently Breathless: "Voyages of Past Travellers" flows directly into "Everything's a Circle", which in turn is actually two distinct songs despite being listed under a single title. Original drummer/songwriter Bobby Caldwell had been replaced by Marty Rodriguez and Guille Garcia in the band.
Psycho Circus is the eighteenth studio album by American rock band Kiss and the first to involve all four original members since 1979's Dynasty. Some pressings featured a lenticular cover that alternates between a black Kiss logo and the album title with pictures of a clown and the band members, while the Japan initial first pressing featured a pop-up cover which had three foam spring-loaded panels of a clown face and two others with band members faces that popped out when the doors were opened. "You Wanted the Best" is the only Kiss song in which lead vocals are shared by the entire lineup.
