Farakhpur is a census town in Yamunanagar district in the state of Haryana, India.

A census town is a type of town that satisfies certain characteristics, depending on the country in which it is located.

Yamunanagar district is one of the 22 districts of the Indian state of Haryana. The district came into existence on 1 November 1989 and occupies an area of 1,756 square kilometres (678 sq mi). Yamunanagar town is the district headquarters.

Haryana is one of the 29 states in India, located in northern part of the country. It was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on 1 November 1966 on linguistic as well as on cultural basis. It is ranked 22nd in terms of area with less than 1.4% of India's land area. Chandigarh is the state capital, Faridabad in National Capital Region is the most populous city of the state and Gurugram is a leading financial hub of NCR with major Fortune 500 companies located in it. Haryana has 6 administrative divisions, 22 districts, 72 sub-divisions, 93 revenue tehsils, 50 sub-tehsils, 140 community development blocks, 154 cities and towns, 6,848 villages and 6222 villages panchayats.

As of 2001^[update] India census,^[1] Farakhpur had a population of 8738. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Farakhpur has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 67%. In Farakhpur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
