Jamia Millia Islamia is a premier central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces during the British Empire in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by University Grants Commission in 1962. On 26 December 1988, it became a central university.
Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari was an Indian nationalist and political leader, and former president of the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League during the Indian Independence Movement. He was one of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia University. He remained it's chancellor from 1928 to 1936.

Syed Hasan (1924-2016), popularly known as Syed Bhai [translates to Brother Syed in English], was an Indian educationist, humanist and the founder of INSAN Group of Institutions, mostly known for one of its founding organization, INSAN School. Mohammad Zahid Ashraf is an Indian biotechnologist and a professor at Jamia Millia Islamia. Known for his studies on thrombosis experienced at high altitudes. Ashraf is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian National Sciences Academy and Indian Academy of Sciences, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences, in 2017–18.

Nuzhat Parveen Khan is an Indian academician and author who served as the dean of Bennett University's School of Law. She has formerly served as the dean of Jamia Millia Islamia's Faculty of Law and is now a professor at the university. She has authored dozen of books including Women and Child related Laws, Comparative Constitutional Law and Globalisation of Professional Legal Education Constitutional Conspectus.
Farida Khanam is an Islamic scholar, speaker, author, translator, and peace activist. She spent more than two and half decades teaching Islamic Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India where she also earned her Master's and PhD. She is the current chairperson of CPS International. She is the daughter of the noted Islamic Scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan and has edited and translated his commentary of the Quran, Tazkirul Quran into English. Prof. Farida Khanam is the editor-in-chief and translator of many of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan's works.
