Fort Edmonton was the name of a series of trading posts of the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) from 1795 to 1914, all of which were located on the north banks of the North Saskatchewan River in what is now central Alberta, Canada. It was one of the last points on the Carlton Trail, the main overland route for Metis freighters between the Red River Colony and the points west and was an important stop on the York Factory Express route between London, via Hudson Bay, and Fort Vancouver in the Columbia District. It also was a connection to the Great Northland, as it was situated relatively close to the Athabasca River whose waters flow into the Mackenzie River and the Arctic Ocean. Located on the farthest north of the major rivers flowing to the Hudson Bay and the HBC's shipping posts there, Edmonton was for a time the southernmost of the HBC's forts.

The Edmonton Blues Festival is an annual blues music festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which was first held in 1999. The festival runs for three days in mid-August at the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park. In 2008, the festival was the recipient of the 'Keeping The Blues Alive Award' from the Blues Foundation, based in Memphis, Tennessee. Due to renovations that will close Hawrelak Park until 2026, the festival is moving to Edmonton's RE/MAX Field.

It is located on Highway 658, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) north of Highway 43 and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the Athabasca River. The electoral district covers the neighbourhoods of Beverly, Belmont Park and Clareview Town Centre. It was created in 1996, and was first contested in the 1997 election. It was last contested in the 2019 election, and has been held by Deron Bilous of the NDP since 2012.
Concordia High School, originally named Concordia College, and subsequently Concordia College High School until 1997, was created with the purpose of preparing young men to attend the Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Once ordained, they would return to the Canadian Prairies to open up new Lutheran churches. Concordia was established in 1921 with a first class of eighth grade boys. In the 1940s the school became co-ed and became an academic prep school. After World War II the high school continued as a grade nine to twelve program.
Lorne Akins Junior High is a school in St. Albert, Alberta that teaches students in grades seven through nine. The school is named for the farmer that owned the property on which the school is currently built, first opening in 1963 as Paul Kane High School. However, in 1973 Paul Kane moved to another building, and the Lorne Akins building opened in April 1973 as a junior high, replacing the previous junior high Sir Alexander Mackenzie, which turned into an elementary school. The current principal of the school is Derek Herman, and Jennifer Suriano is the assistant principal. who took over from principal Graham Jackson. Notable alumni from the school include NHL star Jarome Iginla. The school is well known for its wrestling team the Crush, which produced nine different national champions under the 34 year coaching tenure of teacher Barrie Schulha, who retired in 2012. His wrestling program was the longest running continuous sports program at a junior high in St. Albert.
The Dunvegan Yards were rail yards in Edmonton, Alberta, named after, and originally owned by, the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway. Located just east of the St. Albert Trail and connected to the Grand Trunk Pacific's transcontinental mainline, the yards were the southern terminus of the ED&BC which began construction in 1912, though the yards were not officially surveyed until 1914. The ED&BC, by 1915, reached Grande Prairie in the Peace Country some 400 miles or 640 kilometres northwest from Edmonton, and helped to cement Edmonton as a major Canadian rail hub, opened up the Westlock region to increased settlement, linked northern Alberta economically to the rest of the continent, and earned Edmonton a reputation as "the Gateway to the North".
