Federal Government Girls College, Omu-Aran is a federal owned secondary school located in Omu-Aran, Kwara State. [1] The school was founded on 13 May 1995 with 116 pioneer students and Mrs Hajia J. F. Gold as her first principal. The slogan and vision of the school are "together everybody achieves more" and "qualitative girl child education for national development" respectively.
The College was conceived out of the desire to bring together young girls from diverse cultural, tribal and linguistic background from different parts of Nigeria to learn under the same environment with a view to fostering national unity among them at the impressionable stage of their lives.
Its' establishment is in keeping in line with the Federal Government policy of having at least two Federal Government Colleges otherwise known as unity schools in each State of the Federation including Abuja to serve as Model Schools for others in their pursuits of academic moral and social excellence. Ilorin is the capital city of Kwara State located in the Western region of Nigeria. Sunday Orinya Ifere was a Nigerian army officer who was the Military Governor of Kwara State between July 1978 and October 1979. As a lieutenant, in the unsuccessful Nigerian counter-coup of 1966 he was involved in fighting in Kaduna, serving in the same squadron as Ibrahim Babangida, who later became military head of state from August 1985 until August 1993. A colonel when military governor, he retired as a major general.

Isanlu Isin or Isanlusin is an ancient town in Isin LGA of Kwara State, Nigeria. Isin LGA of Kwara State was created from the old Irepodun Local Government Area in 1996 with the headquarters at Owu-Isin. Omu-Aran the Head Post of Ìgbómìnà land, is a town in the Nigerian state of Kwara. It originated from Ife and currently the local government headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area. Omu-Aran is 86.3km from Ilorin, Kwara State Capital, along Ilorin-Kabba Federal Highway.

Charles Oladele Akande Ibitoye, was the thirty third traditional ruler (king) or Olomu of Omu-Aran from 1993 until his death in the year 2017. He was born into the Ruling House of Ijawusi of Ikoja Compound. He took the regnal name Adogbajale-bi-ileke II. Omu-Aran, which is the Head Post of Igbomina land, a town in the Nigerian state of Kwara. It originated from Ile-Ife and is the local government headquarters of the Irepodun local government. He was appointed on the 1st February 1993, crowned on 19 February 1993 and was presented a first class Staff of Office on the 8 May 1993 by Mohammed Sha'aba Lafiagi, Executive Governor of Kwara State, in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from across the globe.
