Hockey, or more specifically, field hockey, was first introduced to the Australian Youth Olympic Festival as a men's and women's tournament at the 2007 Games.
After being introduced in the 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, field hockey as become a permanent feature at every edition since.
Australia are the most successful team in the men's competition, having won gold at every edition of the tournament. [1] Great Britain are the most successful women's team, having one the tournament twice, [2] followed by Australia who have won the tournament once. [3]

Sport in New Zealand largely reflects the nation's British colonial heritage, with some of the most popular sports being rugby union, rugby league, cricket, football (soccer), basketball and netball, which are primarily played in Commonwealth countries. The United States men's national field hockey team represents the United States in the international field hockey competitions. The governing body is the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA), which is a US Olympic Committee organization.
The 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival was the fourth edition of the Australian Youth Olympic Festival. It was held from 17–21 January 2007.
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is a biennial multi-sport event for youth athletes from the 50 member countries of the association of European Olympic Committees. The festival has a summer edition, held for the first time in Brussels in 1991, and a winter edition, which began two years later in Aosta. It was known as the European Youth Olympic Days from 1991 to 1999.
