The association is committed to the education of young people through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, with the aim of building a better world where individuals are self-fulfilled and play a constructive role in society.

It was founded in 1934, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1957 and is also a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The coeducational Scouts Tunisiens has about 32,000 members. The Girl Guides are an integral but independent section of Les Scouts Tunisiens.

Founded in 1942, the girls-only organization became an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1946 and a full member in 1950. The South Sudan Scout Association is the national Scouting organization of South Sudan. It was founded in 2011 following the independence of South Sudan, which became an independent country on July 9, 2011, at which moment the organization split from the Sudan Scouts Association, a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. In January 2013, the organization had about 2000 members.
