The Filbasket 2022 Summer Championship, officially known as the Filbasket 2022 Summer Championship - Puregold for sponsorship reasons, was the second season of the Filbasket and first as a professional league. The league tournament follows the Filbasket Subic Championship which was held in late 2021. [1]
Starting this tournament, it is expected that Filbasket would be organized as a professional tournament sanctioned by the government's Games and Amusements Board. Filbasket started the process of turning into a professional league recognized by the GAB on February 22, 2022. [2]
The 2022 season was commenced on March 18, 2022. [3]
A guest team from Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Aseel is also set to participate. [4]

Esports, short for electronic sports, is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams. Although organized competitions have long been a part of video game culture, these were largely between amateurs until the late 2000s, when participation by professional gamers and spectatorship in these events through live streaming saw a large surge in popularity. By the 2010s, esports was a significant factor in the video game industry, with many game developers actively designing and providing funding for tournaments and other events.

Jeong Eon-yeong, better known as Impact, is a South Korean League of Legends player for Evil Geniuses of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). Impact won the Season 3 League of Legends World Championship as a member of SK Telecom T1 K. He played for both Team Impulse and NRG Esports in the LCS, before transferring to Cloud9 in May 2016. Before playing Global Offensive, n0thing was a professional Counter Strike 1.6 player. Jordan won his first LAN tournament at just 10 years old. Since then, he has grown into a major figure in the CS:GO scene. His large following has garnered him popularity outside the esports scene, even appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience.
The Batangas City Embassy Chill are a basketball team currently competing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The team traces its roots to the original Tanduay Rhum Masters that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 to 1987 and again from 1999 to 2001. Batangas City, as with the original Tanduay team, is owned and affiliated with Tanduay Distillers.

The FilBasket Subic Championship, also known as the FilBasket Subic Championship – Cocolife due to sponsorship reasons, was the first season of FilBasket starting in October 2021 starting from October 28, 2021, to November 21, 2021. The venue for all of the games was the Subic Bay Gymnasium.

The Filbasket International Championship, also known as the Sportsclick Filbasket International Championship – Malaysia for sponsorship reasons, is the third tournament under the Philippine-based Filbasket league. The tournament will be hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
