Five Mile Fork is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.
Five Mile Fork is a community in Spotsylvania County five miles west of Fredericksburg, Virginia. The original development consisted of houses on Old Plank Road, Dogwood Avenue, North Dickenson Drive, Cherry Road, Wrights Lane and Harrison Road. This was a post World War II housing development for working-class residence of the area. Most of the houses in the original development were built starting in 1946 with continued construction through the 1960s. With the opening of I-95 into Washington, D.C. in 1965, the area saw increased developmental pressures. By 1980 the surrounding area was quickly losing its rural character. Spotsylvania's population doubled from 1970 to 1980 with much of the development centered on the Route 3 (Plank Road) corridor.
There were at least three stores that served the five mile fork community over the years, Brumley's Store, Hudson's Store and Foltz's Grocery. Brumley's predates the five mile fork housing.
From 1933 through 1985 E.C. Brumley's store sat in the fork of the road where Gordon road turned south off of Old Plank Road. The Store was run by E.C. Brumley and his wife Vera until Vera's death in 1980. The store was run briefly by Buck Brumbly after Vera's death. [1] The store initially sold pinto beans, butter beans, lima beans, navy beans, fat back, dry goods, RC Cola, buggies, harnesses and clocks. The store had a single gas pump. E.C. Brumley also ran a blacksmith, turning the forge and performed farrier work. The Brumley family lived in the house behind the store. The Brumley's also raised hogs, ran a slaughterhouse and held turkey shoots. The store site and home was sold in 1985 to Mt Hope Church and is at the entrance to their parking lot. Gordon Road was realigned to run behind the store location. [2]
Hudson store was at 6402 Old Plank Road, east of Brumley's. This store also served as the Chancellor Post Office after 1966, and Mrs. Laura Sorrell was the post master. [3]
The third store in the area was Foltz's "Five Mile Fork Grocery". This store was a frame house on Route 3 just east of Mullen's Garage. This store was run by Evelyn Foltz.
Sexton's Barber shop at 3220 Old Plank Road. Mr. Archie Sexton was the only barber shop in the area. He had two chairs in the shop, but he was the only barber. The shop was closed in the late 1970s. Archie died in 1983. In 2014, the old barber shop is being used as an appliance repair shop.
Spotsylvania County is a county in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the July 2021 estimate, the population was 145,300. Its county seat is Spotsylvania Courthouse.
Fredericksburg is an independent city in Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,982. It is 48 miles (77 km) south of Washington, D.C., and 53 miles (85 km) north of Richmond. The Bureau of Economic Analysis of the United States Department of Commerce combines the city of Fredericksburg with neighboring Spotsylvania County for statistical purposes.

Strawberry Hill is an affluent area of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in Twickenham. It is a suburban development situated 10.4 miles (16.7 km) west south-west of Charing Cross. It consists of a number of residential roads centred on a small development of shops, including a pharmacy, post office, off licence, hairdressing salon and grocery store. Residents are served by Strawberry Hill railway station, where trains run to London Waterloo from both platforms - via Kingston and Richmond respectively.
The Shenandoah River is the principal tributary of the Potomac River, 55.6 miles (89.5 km) long with two forks approximately 100 miles (160 km) long each, in the U.S. states of Virginia and West Virginia. The river and its tributaries drain the central and lower Shenandoah Valley and the Page Valley in the Appalachians on the west side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in northwestern Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. There is a hydroelectric plant along the Shenandoah river constructed in 2014 by Dominion.

Locust Grove is an unincorporated community in eastern Orange County, Virginia, United States. Its ZIP code is 22508, the population of the ZIP Code Tabulation Area was 7,605 at the time of the 2000 census and increased by 60% to 12,696 by the 2010 census, making it the largest population center within the county. While Locust Grove has historically been centered on the intersection of State Routes 20 and 611, most of the current population and commercial activity is located along the State Route 3 corridor, several miles to the east. It is named after the Black Locust trees common to the area.
Croaker is an unincorporated community in James City County, Virginia, United States on the south bank of the York River 10 miles downstream from West Point. The York River is formed from the confluence of the Mattaponi River and the Pamunkey River at West Point. The York River empties into the Chesapeake Bay about 30 miles downstream from Croaker.
Central Park is a shopping complex in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with 166 businesses. The complex is located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and State Route 3. Many national big-box stores, restaurants, and smaller local businesses occupy the Central Park complex. The complex has 2,200,000 square feet (200,000 m2) of leased retail space. The complex's developer, the Silver Companies, describes Central Park as "The East Coast's Largest Power Retail Center". In the 2004 rankings from the American Studies Department at Eastern Connecticut State University, Central Park was ranked as the largest unenclosed mall on the East Coast, and as the seventh largest mall in the United States.
North Hills is a mixed use development located in Raleigh, North Carolina that includes stores, restaurants, entertainment, commercial offices, residential living and a continuing care retirement community. There is a large outdoor commons area which features events such as live concerts, festivals, and a farmers' market.
State Route 208 is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. The state highway runs 47.35 miles (76.20 km) from U.S. Route 250 at Ferncliff east to US 1 and US 1 Business at Four Mile Fork. SR 208 is a major southwest–northeast highway through Louisa and Spotsylvania counties. The state highway connects the counties' respective seats of Louisa and Spotsylvania Courthouse, where the old route of the highway is SR 208 Business, with each other and with Fredericksburg near the highway's eastern terminus. SR 208 also has a direct connection with Interstate 64 (I-64) at Ferncliff and an indirect connection to I-95 near Fredericksburg.
Four Mile Fork is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, United States, south of the city limits of Fredericksburg. Its name derives from the junction of State Route 208, U.S. Route 1, and U.S. Route 1 Business, which is located approximately four miles south of downtown Fredericksburg.

The Spotsylvania Towne Centre is a mall located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on Virginia State Route 3, less than a mile west of Interstate 95, and directly across from the Central Park shopping and dining complex. The mall is owned and developed by Cafaro Company. The property was renamed as "Spotsylvania Towne Centre" at the beginning of a $12 million renovation project. The project, completed in 2009, included an extensive remodeling of the mall's interior and exterior. At the same time, construction was begun on an outdoor lifestyle center called "The Village." The mall's anchor stores are Guitar Center, Dick's Sporting Goods, Belk, Costco, JCPenney, and Macy's. There is 1 vacant anchor that was once Sears. The Splitsville Bowling Alley is connected to a movie theater. The mall also houses over 150 specialty stores and restaurants.
Belmont is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is marked with a highway sign at the intersection of Belmont Road and Orange Springs Road by the Virginia Department of Transportation, however is marked as being the intersection with Belmont Road and Jones Powell Road by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The immediate area has Fletcher's Store and the Belmont Christmas Tree farm. Further south, there are other buildings identifying with Belmont, such as Belmont Baptist Church, the Belmont Ruritan Community Building where the Belmont Ruritan Club meets each evening at 7 p.m. and serves as the district's polling place for registered voters, and the Belmont Fire & Rescue station staffed by Spotsylvania County Volunteer Company 9.
Chancellor is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. Originally named Screamersville, the community was established as a railroad whistle stop west of Fredericksburg. The name was changed to Chancellor around 1927 by agreement of the railroad and the local community.
Paytes is an unincorporated community in Spotsylvania County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. The community is marked at the intersection of Lawyer's Road and Catharpin Road by an electrical substation owned by Rappahannock Electric Co-op. A telecommunications tower was approved to be built on the site to expand cell coverage in the area on February 28, 2001.

Ravenswood District, formerly Ravenswood Magisterial District, is one of five historic magisterial districts in Jackson County, West Virginia, United States. The district was originally known as Gilmore Township, one of five civil townships established in 1863; the name officially became "Ravenswood" in 1871, and Jackson County's townships were converted into magisterial districts in 1872. When Jackson County was redistricted in the 1990s, the area of Ravenswood District was divided between the new Northern and Western Magisterial Districts. However, the county's historic magisterial districts continue to exist in the form of tax districts, serving all of their former administrative functions except for the election of county officials.
