Fjelldal is a village in Tjeldsund Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The village is located on the eastern bank of the Tjeldsundet strait in the northeastern part of the municipality. The village is located about halfway between the villages of Ramsund and Evenskjer. The town of Harstad is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Fjelldal, and Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes is reachable by a 15-minute car drive to the southeast. [3]

The 0.81-square-kilometre (200-acre) village has a population (2011) of 320. The population density is 395 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,020/sq mi). [1] Fjelldal Chapel is located in this village.

Fauskevåg is a village in Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located on the island of Hinnøya, along the Vågsfjorden, about 20 km (12 mi) south of the town of Harstad. The population (2001) of Fauskevåg is 341. The village has an elementary school called Fauskevåg skole with grades 1 through 4.

Hinnøya is the fourth-largest island in Norway, and the largest outside the Svalbard archipelago. The 2,204.7-square-kilometre (851.2 sq mi) lies just off the western coast of Northern Norway. The island sits on the border of Nordland and Troms counties. The western part of the island is in the district of Vesterålen, the southwestern part is in the Lofoten district, the southeastern part is in the Ofoten district, and the northeastern part is in Troms. Finnsnes is a small town that is the administrative centre of Senja Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The town is located on the mainland part of Norway, just across the Gisundet strait from the island of Senja. The Gisund Bridge connects Finnsnes to the suburban villages of Silsand and Laukhella on the island of Senja. The municipality is well-provided with kindergartens and a decentralized school system on both primary and secondary levels. There are also three schools on the upper secondary/high school level and a center for decentralized studies at the university level. Finnsnes Church is located in the center of the town.

Tjeldsundet is a strait in Northern Norway. The 50-kilometre long strait is located between the island of Hinnøya and mainland Norway in its northern part and between Hinnøya and the island of Tjeldøya in its southern part. Tjeldsundet has been an important waterway for more than 1,000 years and was well known and used during the Viking Age.

Kasfjord is a village in Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The village is located at the end of the Kasfjorden on the north side of Hinnøya island, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of the town of Harstad and about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south of the village of Elgsnes. The Kasfjordvannet lake is located along the east side of the village. The 0.34-square-kilometre (84-acre) village has a population (2011) of 252. The population density is 741 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,920/sq mi).

Tovik is a village in Tjeldsund Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The village is located on the mainland at the entrance of the two fjords; Astafjorden and Vågsfjorden, and at a distance of about 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes. Tovik's population (2001) is 151.

Grov or Grovfjord is a village in Tjeldsund Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The village is located 12 km (7.5 mi) east of the village of Tovik along the Grovfjorden at a very narrow point in the fjord. It is about 60 km (37 mi) southeast of the town of Harstad and about 71 km (44 mi) west of the town of Narvik. The Moelva and Gårdselva rivers flow through the village into the fjord. The 0.58-square-kilometre (140-acre) village has a population (2017) of 400 which gives the village a population density of 690 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,800/sq mi).

Sandtorg is a village in Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located on the eastern shore of the large island of Hinnøya, on the shore of the Tjeldsundet. The village is located along the European route E10 highway in the southern part of the municipality. There are about 300 residents in the village area. The 1,095-metre (3,593 ft) tall mountain Sætertinden is located northwest of the village of Sandtorg, along the border with Tjeldsund municipality.

Harstad is a town in Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The town is also the administrative centre of the municipality of Harstad. The 11.15-square-kilometre (2,760-acre) town has a population (2023) of 21,289 which gives the town a population density of 1,879 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,870/sq mi). It is the second-largest town in Troms county, after the city of Tromsø, and it is the largest town in Central Hålogaland.

Fjelldal Chapel is a chapel of the Church of Norway in Tjeldsund Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located in the village of Fjelldal. It is an annex chapel in the Tjeldsund parish which is part of the Trondenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden chapel was built in a long church style in 1960 using plans drawn up by the architect Birger Stoltenberg. The chapel seats about 140 people.

Gausvik or Gausvika is a village in Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is in the northeastern part of the large island of Hinnøya, along the Tjeldsundet Strait, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of the town of Harstad. The European route E10 highway passes through the village, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the Tjeldsund Bridge. Gausvik Church is in the village.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sandtorg Municipality</span> Former municipality in Troms, Norway

Sandtorg is a former municipality in Troms county, Norway. The 176.6-square-kilometre (68.2 sq mi) municipality existed from 1926 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality included the southern part of what is now Harstad Municipality on the eastern coast of the island of Hinnøya as well as some smaller islands in the Vågsfjorden. The administrative centre was actually located in the town of Harstad, immediately north of Sandtorg. Sandtorg Church, the main church for the municipality was in the village of Sørvika.
