Florian Havemann (born 12 January 1952 in East Berlin) is the son of East German dissident Robert Havemann.

Biography

He is a German writer, painter and composer. He is also a judge at the State Constitutional Court of Brandenburg.

He fled to West Germany during the Cold War and was the subject of the song "Enfant perdu" ("Lost child") by Wolf Biermann. In the song, Biermann mocked Havemann for fleeing East Germany and thus deserting socialism.

Florian is a male given name borrowed from the ancient Roman name Florianus. The name is derived from Florus, from Latin flōrus, related to flāvus. In spite of that, by popular etymology, it is often linked to flōs.

Paul Hatschek was a Czech engineer of optical and film technology and a member of the German Resistance against Nazism during the Third Reich. He was involved with Robert Uhrig and then became a leading member of the resistance group, the European Union. According to Robert Havemann, Hatschek was under Gestapo surveillance for years. He was arrested in 1943 and subjected to intensive interrogation, resulting in him giving the Nazis numerous names of fellow resistance members. His daughter and his wife were among those arrested. All three were brought before the Volksgerichtshof and sentenced to death. He was executed at Brandenburg-Görden Prison in May 1944; his wife and daughter were executed at Plötzensee Prison, his daughter in May 1944, his wife in December 1944.

"Ermutigung" ("Encouragement") is a poem and song by the German Liedermacher and lyricist Wolf Biermann. It was first published in 1968 in the poetry collection Mit Marx- und Engelszungen by Verlag Klaus Wagenbach, which also released the poem set to music as part of the single 4 neue Lieder. Biermann later released the song on his 1974 LP album aah-ja!, released by Columbia Records.
