Flowers in the Pavement is the debut album by Australian hip hop group Bliss n Eso, which was released on 23 August 2004 via Obese Records.

Contents

"This Is for You" received airplay on Triple J's Home and Hosed program, which exclusively features Australian music. [1] It was also played on NOVA FM. "This Is for You" and "Pigs in the Porn Trough" securing Bliss n Eso as the 'hip hop' category winners and 'artist of the year' nominees at the annual National Music Oz Awards in 2003 and 2004. "Hip Hop Blues" was produced by Suffa from Hilltop Hoods. The group toured in support of the album, across Australia including dates in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart and Brisbane. [2]

Vaughan Healey of Cyclic Defrost felt that it is "a deceptively dense album: full of laddish appeal but balanced by peculiar turns, strong production values and a lyrical depth" with its tracks "structured around sophisticated metaphor and clever metre" and "it continues the Obese tradition of releasing idiosyncratic, upfront local hiphop." Australian hip hop traces its origins to the early 1980s and is largely inspired by hip hop and other urban musical genres from the United States. Bliss n Eso Australian hip hop trio

They are currently signed to Melbourne record label Illusive Sounds, and are managed and booked by label co-founders Adam Jankie and Matt Gudinski. Bliss n Eso have released six studio albums which include three number 1 debuts on the ARIA Charts. They have also won two ARIA Awards for Best Urban Release for their 2008 album Flying Colours and for Best Music Video for their 2017 single "Moments". Eso, under his alias Esoterik, released an album entitled "My Astral Plane" in May 2018.

Obese Records

Obese Records was a record label that released music from the Australian hip hop genre. It was the largest Australian independent hip hop label, including performers Pegz, Thundamentals and Dialectrix. Obese Records also operated two retail stores in Melbourne, a record distribution company, a soul imprint named Plethora Records, and operates the artists' management and touring company Obese Records Artist Management.

Day of the Dog is the second album by Australian hip hop group Bliss n Eso. It was released via Illusive Sounds in March 2006 in both vinyl and CD formats. The title is a metaphor for Australian hip hop being the 'underdog' of the Australian music industry, and affirming that it is now time for it to rise up. It reached the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Muph & Plutonic is an Australian hip hop group. It is composed of MC Muphin and DJ–drummer–producer Plutonic Lab, both of whom released several solo albums before joining together to form a combined act in 2004.

Layla Rose Hanbury, known mononymously as Layla, is an Australian hip hop singer-songwriter and MC from Perth. In January 2005 she released her debut solo album, Heretik, on Obese Records. She is a member of Syllabolix (SBX) Crew, with other MCs including her husband, Dazastah. The couple also perform as Layla and Dazastah. During September and October 2011 the duo were a support act for another SBX artist, Drapht, on his Australia-wide Party Party Party Tour.

Chance Waters Musical artist

Chance Dylan Waters, was an independent Australian hip hop artist and record producer. As Phatchance, Waters was a founder of the group, Natural Causes, in 2003 which issued an album, The Incidental Noise Demo, and toured nationally. The group disbanded later that year.

Running on Air is the fourth studio album by the Australian hip hop trio Bliss n Eso. It was released on 30 July 2010. The album debuted at No. 1 in Australia for the week commencing 9 August 2010. It has since been certified Platinum by ARIA. It was nominated by Australian radio station, Triple J for Album of the Year, along with Megan Washington's I Believe You Liar, and Birds of Tokyo's Birds of Tokyo.

Mark Landon, better known by his stage name M-Phazes, is an Australian-born producer based in LA. He has produced records for Logic, Demi Lovato, Madonna, Eminem, Kehlani, Zara Larsson, Remi Wolf, Kiiara, Noah Cyrus, and Cautious Clay. He produced and wrote Eminem’s “Bad Guy” off 2015’s Grammy Winner for Best Rap Album of the Year “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.” He produced and wrote “Sober” by Demi Lovato, “playinwitme” by KYLE ft. Kehlani, “Adore” by Amy Shark, “I Got So High That I Found Jesus” by Noah Cyrus, and “Painkiller” by Ruel ft Denzel Curry.

Ryan Leaf, better known by the stage name Dialectrix, is an Australian hip hop artist from Sydney. He was a member of Down Under Beats Crew and, since 2008, has been a member of Gully Platoon. In addition to his musical career, Dialectrix works in the construction trades. He was introduced to hip hop culture through skateboarding during adolescence.

Good Gracious is the first album by Australian hip hop producer M-Phazes. Released in 2010 on Obese Records, each track features different artists, including Drapht, Bliss n Eso, Illy and Forthwrite.

"House of Dreams" is a song by Australian hip hop trio Bliss n Eso. It was released on 8 March 2013 through Illusive Sounds as the first single from their fifth studio album Circus in the Sky. Critical reception to song was generally positive. 'House of Dreams' debuted on the ARIA Singles Chart at No. 47 and spent 5 weeks on the chart. It also finished at No. 94 on the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2013. Bliss n Eso performed the song alongside 'My Life' at the ARIA Music Awards of 2013 where they were nominated for 'Best Urban Album' for Circus in the Sky. The song was also used in a promo the 2013 AFL Grand Final. In July 2013 Bliss n Eso began their 'House of Dreams Tour'.

Reflections (Bliss n Eso song) 2010 single by Bliss n Eso

"Reflections" is a song by Australian hip hop trio Bliss n Eso. It was released on 17 December 2010 through Illusive Sounds as the third single from the trio's fourth studio album, 2010's Running on Air. The song was written by MC Bliss and MC Eso. Reflections debuted at No. 86 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and peaked at No. 53. It also finished at No. 53 on the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2010. No music video was made for the song, however the audio of the song uploaded to Bliss n Eso's channel currently has over 1 million views. "Reflections" received highly positive reviews and is regarded to be one of the best songs on Running on Air. In 2013 "Reflections" was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association for sales/shipments exceeding 35,000 copies.

The discography of Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods consists of seven studio albums, six extended plays (EPs), twenty-four singles and three DVDs. Their debut studio album A Matter of Time was released independently in 1999.

The 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards is a recognition ceremony that was held on October 27, 2020 as the 15th instalment of the BET Hip Hop Awards. The nominations were announced on September 29, 2020. Hosted by Wild 'N Out cast members and hosts of 85 South Comedy Show podcast: Chico Bean, Karlous Miller and DC Young Fly.
