Focus Odisha [1] is a 24-hour Odia news channel of the News World Group. This channel was launched on 13 June 2014 by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. [2] Focus TV Group runs a number of other news channels in various languages like Hindi and Bengali. [3]

The channel provides news along with various other programs related to social, economic and education conditions in Odisha. Headquartered in Bhubaneswar, Focus Odisha has nine bureaus located in Cuttack and Puri, each having a journalist, a video journalist and technical staff. Apart from this, 65 stringers have been employed in various locations of Odisha to cover the entire state, making it a nearly 150 strong team. Nearly Rs 10 crore has been invested into setting up the channel. [4]

Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician and writer serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha representing the Hinjili Assembly constituency since 2000. He is also the 1st president of the Biju Janata Dal since 1997. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2023, one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state, holding the post for over two decades, and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state. On 22 July 2023, Naveen Patnaik achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second longest-serving Chief Minister in India. They constitute a majority in the eastern coastal state, with significant minority populations existing in the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Janaki Ballabh Patnaik was an Indian politician who had been 25th Governor of Assam from 2009 to 2014. A leader of the Indian National Congress, he was Chief Minister of Odisha from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999, holding that post for the longest time on record before Naveen Patnaik. In 1950, he became the President of the Odisha state unit of the youth wing of the Congress. In 1980, he became the Union Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Labour from 16 January to 7 June.

Prince Dance Group, a dance troupe based in Berhampur, Odisha, India led by T. Krishna Mohan Reddy. It has won a reality show India's Got Talent on an Indian TV channel "Colors". The group is unique that the members are from a remote part of India and most of them are from disadvantaged sections of different parts of Ganjam district. Two of them, Padmanabha Sahu (24) and Telu Tarini (13) are physically disabled. They have won the hearts of all Odias, including chief minister Naveen Patnaik, and even outsiders with their performance in the programme "India's Got Talent". Prince Group also performed in Sardotsav- annual winter festival in Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) on 6 November 2014.

Bande Utkala Janani is an Odia patriotic poem written by Laxmikanta Mohapatra in 1912. Odisha became the first state in British India to be formed on linguistic basis on 1 April 1936. The music was first recorded by Gokul Mohanty in 1932. The modern notation was arranged by the Odissi musician Balakrushna Dash which was adopted as the state anthem. The Odisha Cabinet on 7 June 2020, accorded the poem the status as the Anthem of Odisha.

It is published from the capital city of Bhubaneswar, as well as from Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Balasore, Jajpur, Jeypore, and Angul The first edition of this newspaper was published on October 4, 1984, in Bhubaneswar. Editor since the foundation is Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, a businessman-politician.

He received several literary awards over his career, including the 1979 Odisha Sahitya Academy Award for Akasha Patala, and the 1983 Sarala Award and the 1984 Sahitya Akademi Award in Odia, for Abhisapta Gandharba. Sahoo died on 25 June 2016 after multiple organ failures.

Amar Patnaik is a former Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer under the Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of India and former Principal Accountant General (PAG) of Sikkim, Odisha, West Bengal, and Kerala. He opted for voluntary retirement, nine years before completion of his service and joined Biju Janata Dal in the presence of party president and CM Naveen Patnaik on 29 August 2018. Since 28 June 2019, he is the member of the Parliament of India representing Odisha in the Rajya Sabha and general secretary of the BJD Parliamentary Party office, the upper house. She was the first woman to be elected president of the Odisha State Sahitya Akademi, a literary organization for the state of Odisha.
