The women's football tournament of the 2016 South Asian Games is the second edition of the tournament. It was played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, India, from 5 February to 15 February 2016.
India defended their title with a 4–0 win over Nepal. [1] [2]
It is being played on round-robin format. The top two teams will be play in the final. The team finishing third in the group stage will be awarded with Bronze Medal.

The 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualification phase saw eight teams advance to the final tournament in Nepal. The qualification draw was held on 20 October 2010, in AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 2011 South Asian Football Federation Championship, sponsored by Karbonn Mobiles and officially named Karbonn SAFF Championship 2011, was the 9th tournament of the SAFF Championship, which held in New Delhi, India.
The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup, a biennial international football tournament contested by men's under-17 national teams. Organised by FIFA, the tournament took place in India from 6 to 28 October 2017, after the country was awarded the hosting rights on 5 December 2013. The tournament marked the first time India hosted a FIFA tournament and the fifth Asian country to host U-17 World Cup after China in 1985, Japan in 1993, South Korea in 2007 and United Arab Emirates in 2013. The attendance for this World Cup was a record 1,347,133, surpassing China's record in 1985 with 1,230,976.
The 2012 Nehru Cup was the 15th edition of the Nehru Cup and 3rd Nehru Cup since it was revived in 2007. It was held from 22 August to 2 September. The tournament was hosted in New Delhi, India. A total of 5 teams participated in the tournament through being invited by the All India Football Federation. The final match happened between India and Cameroon and India won the match in penalty shoot out.
The 2012 SAFF Women's Championship is the 2nd SAFF Women's Championship since the first one in 2010. The competition is contested by the eight South Asian women football teams. India defended their 2010 title by defeating Nepal 3–1 in the final.

The tournament was hosted in Islamabad, Pakistan from 11 to 21 November 2014.

The tournament was held in India, as announced by the AFC on 3 June 2015, and was played between 15 September and 2 October 2016. A total of 16 teams played in the tournament.
The 2016 Indian Federation Cup, also known as 2016 Hero Federation Cup due to sponsorship reasons, was the 37th edition of the Federation Cup, the main national football cup competition in India. The tournament was held from 30 April 2016 to 21 May 2016. Top 8 teams from 2015–16 I-League participated in the tournament. Ten Sports Network, the Official Broadcaster of Hero Federation Cup 2016 telecast only the Semi-finals and the Final match while Knockout stage matches were streamed live on I-league website.

The 2016 SAFF Women's Championship was the 4th edition of the SAFF Women's Championship, the biennial international women's football championship contested by the national teams of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament began in India from 26 December 2016 and went on until 4 January 2017. The country was awarded hosting rights in January 2016. This was the first time India had hosted the SAFF Women's Championship.
Sanju Yadav is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Kickstart in the Indian Women's League and the India women's national football team.
The 2017–18 Youth League U18 was the tenth season of the Indian Youth League U18 and the third season of the competition as an under-18 one. AIFF announced that the zonal rounds for the league that started from 20 November 2017 in Chennai, Maharashtra, Kolkata and Delhi. AIFF Elite Academy were three-time defending champions, but did not participate in the tournament. Shillong Lajong won their first title by defeating Kerala Blasters 2–0 in the final on 26 May 2018.
The Women's football tournament of the 2019 South Asian Games will be the 3rd edition of the tournament. It will be played at Pokhara Rangasala in Pokhara, Nepal, from 3 December to 10 December 2019.
The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup was the 7th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, the multinational–international women's youth football championship, contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 2008. The tournament was hosted by India, which would have hosted the 2020 edition before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the second time that India have been hosting a FIFA tournament, after the men's 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the first time that India hosted a FIFA women's football tournament.

The 2021–22 Santosh Trophy qualifiers is the qualifying round for the 2021–22 Santosh Trophy, the premier competition in India for teams representing their regional and state football associations. A total of 37 teams competed in the qualifiers to decide the 10 places in the final round of the tournament.
