The 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games football tournament was the 21st edition of the competition at the 21st edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Contents

Colombia won the gold in the men's tournament, while Mexico won the gold in the women's tournament.

Men's event

Although the competition is considered to be an under-21 age group competition, up to three players born before 1 January 1997 may be named in the squad. Each participating national football association will select a final squad of 20 players. [1]

2018 CONCACAF Womens U-20 Championship The 9th edition of the CONCACAF Womens U-20 Championship

The 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship was the 9th edition of the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by CONCACAF for the women's under-20 national teams of the North, Central American and Caribbean region. The tournament was hosted by Trinidad and Tobago and took place between 18–28 January 2018, as announced by CONCACAF on 31 October 2017. A total of eight teams played in the tournament.

The 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League is the inaugural season of the CONCACAF Nations League, an international association football competition involving the men's national teams of the 41 member associations of CONCACAF. The Nations League qualifying tournament also served as part of the qualifying process for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which was expanded from 12 to 16 teams. The group stage of the tournament also served as qualification for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The final tournament, which will decide the inaugural champions, was originally scheduled to be played in June 2020. On 3 April 2020, the final tournament was postponed until March 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 22 September 2020, CONCACAF announced that the final tournament was again rescheduled until June 2021.

Football competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held from July 25 to August 9. The venue for the competition was the Estadio Universidad San Marcos, which seats up to 32,000 spectators.

The men's football tournament at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in Barranquilla from 20 to 31 July. Men's teams are allowed to augment their squads with three players over the age of 21.

The women's football tournament at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in Barranquilla, Colombia from 19 to 30 July.

Argentina competed in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019.

South Korea at the 2018 Asian Games Sporting event delegation

South Korea participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. It was the 18th appearance of the country at the Asian Games, except the first edition in Delhi. As one of the best competitors at the Games, South Korea's best achievement was in the 2002 Busan, with the acquisition of 96 gold, 80 silver and 84 bronze medals. At the latest edition in 2014 Incheon, the country had collected 79 gold, 71 silver, and 84 bronze medals.

Japan at the 2018 Asian Games Sporting event delegation

Japan is currently taking part in the 2018 Asian Games as competing nation, in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018.
