Fort White High School is located at 17828 SW SR47 in Fort White, Florida. It is part of the Columbia County School District in Columbia County, Florida. [1] The high school opened in a new building in 2000, 30 years after the original Fort White High School closed. The original school and auditorium buildings are part of the Fort White Public School Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places
The original Fort White High School is part of the Fort White Public School Historic District. It was constructed during 1915 in the masonry vernacular. The building included an Italianate tower and an auditorium was added in 1936. Separate elementary school classrooms were completed in 1938. [2]
The last high school graduating class at the original high school was in 1969, about the same time desegregation and integration forced the closing of the schools serving black students in the area. There were not enough children to justify a high school in Fort White, so students in grades 9–12 were bused 20 miles (32 km) to Columbia High School in Lake City for the next 30 years. After the Ichetucknee Springs State Park opened in 1971, the population in the south end of the county grew to the point where the need for a local facility developed.
A $25 million high school was completed in December 2000 for grades 6–12. It opened in August 2000 in temporary buildings because of construction delays. Fort White High School graduated the first class at the new school in 2001. A new Fort White Middle School for grade 6 was completed prior to the 2008–09 school year. The rest of the middle school (for grades 7 and 8) has also been completed with the middle and high school joined.

The original Columbia County High School is a historic building in Lake City, Florida, United States, located at 372 West Duval Street. It is now the location of Columbia County School District administrative offices. It was built in 1921 and was the only high school in Columbia County. When enrollment exceeded capacity, it was replaced in 1957 by a larger facility on Pennsylvania Avenue, which was named Columbia High School. The original high school was used as the school board administrative offices for a time, then converted into Lake City Junior High School in the mid-1970s. It was the site of serial killer Ted Bundy's abduction of 12 year old Kimberly Leach on February 9, 1978. There had been reports of a white van circling the building. Bundy abducted Leach as she left the side door of the main building, facing towards Southwest Ritch Terrace, as she headed to the rear of the site to visit the school's auditorium at between 9:20 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. Bundy was then seen leading Leach across Duval Street where his white van was parked in the westbound lane.

Central Elementary School is a historic school in Albemarle, North Carolina whose current main building opened in 1925 as Albemarle High School, and whose previous building located next door was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. Additions to the 1925 building were constructed in 1936 and a renovation and expansion completed in 2007. When the renovation was completed, Central Elementary moved from its original building next door. The renovation resulted in the Stanly County's school board being honored by Preservation North Carolina in 2008. The Old Winona Middle School is a former school complex in Winona, Minnesota, United States. The east building was originally constructed as the Winona High School from 1915 to 1917 and the west building was added as the Winona Junior High School in 1926. An auditorium was added to the rear of the east building in 1928. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Winona High School and Winona Junior High School in 2004 for having local significance in the theme of education. It was nominated for representing local efforts to implement progressive educational trends in updated facilities, while offering cultural experiences to the wider community through professional music performances in the auditorium.
